These days smartphones are getting more and more expensive, but luckily those $800 phones aren’t your only option. With that in mind, below we’ve round up a list of some of the best Android smartphones under $100 available in 2016. Perfect for those on an extremely tight budget that still want a good experience.
In the past we’ve detailed cheap Android smartphones, but none of them were this cheap. Motorola has some of the best phones at these low prices, and we’ve gathered a few other great options to give potential buyers more choices than ever before.
Not all buyers need a premium flagship smartphone, want to sign a 2-year contract, or fork out $30 a month on a phone. Let alone spending $600-$900 on one. You’ll be happy to know some Android phones can be found for under $100, and they aren’t terrible Chinese devices either. These are capable phones that will still deliver a well-rounded experience.
In 2015 a lot of cheap Android smartphones were released, and that trend has continued in 2016. Motorola leads the pack with some of the best price/performance phones and others have followed their lead. The result is multiple phones for as low as $69 in some cases.
Many budget Android phones sold from select small carriers or unlocked on Amazon (or from China) don’t offer a good experience, run outdated software, or are typically just awful devices. And while our list doesn’t guarantee a Galaxy S7 like experience, it’s more than enough for daily use.
Considering the budget, these smartphones have plenty to offer. They are cheap devices that are actually worth the money. Of course everyone has different needs, wants, screen size preferences and more, which is why we’ll cover as many options as possible. These are the best Android smartphones available that come in at or under $100.
Moto G Play (Amazon)
The Moto G is an icon in the budget category, and has continued to be one of the best phones money can buy for under $200. However, for 2016 Motorola has something even better in the Moto G Play.
To be accurate, this is a $149 phone that costs $99 from Amazon but with the inclusion of ads. It will come with Amazon apps pre-installed, and users will see "personalized deals and recommendations" based on your Amazon shopping habits on the lockscreen.
It's not too big of a deal, as these ads are often helpful and only on the lockscreen. The trade-off is you'll get an impressive 5-inch Android smartphone that's worth a lot more. In fact, this same phone would have been $600 just a few years ago.
The Moto G Play comes with a 5-inch HD display, a powerful Quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD slot, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow (may see Android N) and even an 8 megapixel camera and 2,800 mAh battery. Yes, this is a nearly stock Android experience with everything that makes Motorola great, for just $99. This phone is unlocked and works on all major US carriers.
It might not be the best phone on the market, or close to the $399 OnePlus 3 or other "budget" phones, but for $99 nothing else will come close. Just ignore a few ads as you quickly swipe to unlock and enjoy your phone.
Oh, and if you're on Verizon Wireless this phone is only $84 with no ads, so consider that or switch carriers if needed.
