Published

on

There are iPhone 7 activation problems and iCloud restore problems frustrating users on the iPhone 7 release day at home and in the store.

This morning some users spent close to two hours at the Apple Store trying to activate the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The blame bounces between carriers like Verizon and Apple’s own activation servers.

While attempting to activate the iPhone 7 Jet Black at home we had to try several times just to get the iPhone activated and then had to install iOS 10.0.1 on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

We are already hearing from users on Twitter who are having trouble with the iCloud restore to the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. When this happens the iPhone 7 iCloud restore is timing out and then saying could not restore.

Here’s what’s happening and potential fixes for this annoying iPhone 7 activation and iCloud problems.

iPhone 7 Activation Problems & Fixes

If you are having trouble with your iPhone 7 activation, there are some things you can try to fix it. The first thing is to simply switch your SIM card from your old iPhone into your new iPhone. This may allow you to skip the issues that is happening between Apple and carriers to activate. This may not work in all cases and if you buy at an Apple Store they may not let you do it.

If you are at home you can plug in to iTunes to activate, which is sometimes more reliable than activating the iPhone 7 over WiFi.

For users who cannot get the iPhone 7 activation to complete with either of those methods, you may need to go to a carrier store to get this issue fixed. This will likely sort itself out over the next several hours.

I just purchased an Iphone 7 . The phone seems fine however every time I put it into the leather case I bought, the phones reception drops considerably and the person on the other end has trouble hearing me..I have tried several cases all the same result. Has anyone else been having similar problems.

@Michael Brown, you’ve left yourself open to jokes and ignorant criticism. Do you have the latest iOS update? How good is your Wi-Fi where ever you are when you’re experiencing connection issues. The blatant obvious solution is to not cover your iphone with a leather/microfiber Apple case.

This article is BS. The iPhone in the video is a iPhone 4/4s possible 5 NOT an iPhone 7. It’s now December and those made up non issues were Apple services issue, not a phone issue.

I cannot get my phone out of a mode that requires I “double tap” the icons or command buttons on screen. In background is a voice telling me to double tap them and “draw three fingers” to get Admin screen etc, etc.

Nothing seems to work and it is useless now. I have taking the chip in and out but the same annoying thing happens.

I have had the phone two weeks and I am taking the damn thing back to Costco Wireless today.
My 5S was dependable but this iPhone 7s is terrible………………

    Hi,

I am sure I am just another frustrated customer with having to update my iPhone..

It continues to have an atones symbol with a lock key towards my select key.

I have had this update on for two hours.

    Can someone help me?

    Thanks,
    Jeanne

I’ve have the IPhone 7 since August and have had nothing, but problems that no one can addressed! I’ve had to change my iPhone 7 phone, 3 times for new ones. I’ve had the same problem on all three phones! I finally begged my way back into another IPhone, not a 7! This phone, for this user, is horrible! They must not have tested this phone, before releasing it! There have been no public apologies, but there should be!
