The same eraser cap on the Surface Pen that you can hold to launch Cortana, is configured to open Microsoft’s OneNote app. Pressing the button lets you begin taking notes in seconds.
To be clear, you don’t have to use Microsoft’s more modern version of OneNote that comes installed with the Surface Pro 4 to get this to work. Settings added in Windows 10 Anniversary Update make it possible to launch OneNote 2016 from the Microsoft Office suite or any program that you use regularly. Like with the Cortana shortcut, you don't have to turn your Surface Pro 4 on before using this Surface Pen shortcut either. It'll wake from sleep. once it detects the button press. |
