Sun & Moon Time Difference

Sun & Moon Time Difference

One of the first generational innovations GameFreak added to the franchise with Silver and Gold was a day and night cycle. Since then, the games have had an internal clock. That clock is important because it determines when creatures appear. You won’t find a Dark-Type Pokémon in daylight, for example. Pokémon Sun and Moon still track the time, but they throw in a new wrinkle.

Sun syncs to whatever time the Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 2DS says that it is. Moon does too, but it’s shifted ahead by 12 hours. Because of this shift, it’ll be more convenient to capture creatures that typically roam Alola at night in Moon than it would be otherwise.
