Mafia 3 Problems: 5 Things You Need to Know

Published

on

After years of rumors and development, Mafia 3 is finally available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. And as we push away from the release date we’re starting to hear about some of the Mafia 3 problems plaguing those who picked up the game.

Last year, 2K Games and Hanger 13 confirmed a new entry into the Mafia series. Mafia 3 doesn’t take gamers back to the city of Empire Bay though. Instead, it’s focused on a new protagonist in a much different setting: New Orleans. Or, as its called in the game, New Bordeaux.

Mafia 3 is a large open world game filled with people to kill, locations to explore, items to unlock, and missions to complete. It’s a big game, an exciting game, but it’s far from perfect.

There are a number of Mafia 3 problems on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

As we push away from the game’s release date we continue to hear about the bugs and issues plaguing Hanger 13’s new title.

With that in mind, we want to take a look at the most important things to know about these Mafia 3 problems on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

This roundup includes a look at some of the early Mafia 3 problems, places to find feedback about bugs and issues, resources for potential fixes, and a look at Hanger 13’s upcoming Mafia 3 bug fix update.

Mafia 3 Problems

It’s early but we’re starting to hear about some of the Mafia 3 problems Xbox One, PS4 and PC owners are facing.

Mafia-3-ReleaseIt appears that a number of people who pre-ordered Mafia 3 Deluxe Edition opened the box up to discover the activation code missing. The issue is reportedly affecting those who pre-ordered via Amazon and Best Buy.

If you are planning to stream Mafia 3 note that the “music in the game will turn off automatically while you stream.” The developer also notes that “all audio in cutscenes will be disabled during streaming.” It’s not clear if the developer plans to change this.

We’ve also heard about crashes, problems obtaining the Family Kick Back items, issues with texturing, problems with the game’s audio particularly during cutscenes, missing missions, issues with key binding, stuttering, discoloration on some of the game’s vehicles, issues starting the game, and lots more.

It’s still early and we expect to hear about more issues as more people decide to buy/download the game on their PC or console.

If you haven’t picked up a copy yet, you might consider waiting for a few more patches to arrive before picking it up.

Where to Find Feedback & Fixes

If you’ve already picked up a copy of Mafia 3, there are a few places to monitor feedback about bugs and issues with performance.

The first place to look is 2K Games’ Mafia news site. There, the company will post news about problems and official fixes for those problems.

You’ll also find feedback about the game and its problems on the Mafia 3 Reddit, the official Mafia 3 forums, and on Steam’s website.

This feedback will alert you to potential issues with the game and it might alert you to some potential fixes not provided by Hanger 13 and 2K Games.

How to Report Mafia 3 Problems

If you do run into an issue with Mafia 3 on the Xbox One, PS4 or PC, you’ll want to report those problems to 2K Games and Hanger 13. There are a few ways to do that.

First, you can hop on a social media site like Twitter and get in touch with the official Mafia 3 account. If you don’t have a Twitter account, you have another option.

You can also report problems on the official Mafia 3 forums. The developer will almost certainly comb through those posts for bugs and problems. You can also report an issue directly via this “Submit a Request” function on 2K Games’ website.

The developer notes that its “currently seeing a high volume of help requests, which means it may take a little longer than normal for us to get to your ticket.”

If you run into an issue, report it. Reporting Mafia 3 problems will help the developer improve the game in upcoming patches for all three platforms.

How to Fix Mafia 3 Problems

Here are a few of the more common Mafia 3 problems and some potential fixes for each.

If your game is running poorly on the PC, try turning down the graphics. As a reminder, here are the minimum and recommended PC specs for Mafia 3.

Minimum Requirements

– Operating system: Windows 7 64-bit

– INTEL CPU: I5-2500K

– AMD CPU: AMD FX-8120

– RAM: 6GB

– AMD GPU: Radeon HD7870

– NVIDIA GPU: GeForce GTX 660

– Video memory: 2GB

– HD: 50GB (free space)

Recommended Specs

If you’re positive your rig should be able to handle the game, you’ll want to make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date.

If you are running into an issue with the game’s sound (crackling, distortion), try decreasing the quality of your sample rate and your bit depth. If you’re running into sound issues on the Xbox One or PS4, you should save, quit to the dashboard and go back in.

If you’re using Windows 8 and you’re experiencing issues, take a look at this thread. Downloading a couple of Windows KB updates could help improve the game.

While playing the game you’ll occasionally see tutorial popups. Occasionally, these popups get stuck on the screen. If this happens, and you’re playing Mafia 3 on a PC, disconnect your controller and reconnect to see if that helps.

Mafia 3 Updates

Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. Mafia 3 is a big game with tons of moving parts and it’s going to take Hanger 13 and 2K games time to correct some of these problems.

As we push away from the game’s release the developer should roll out a steady stream of bug fix updates for all three platforms. These updates will be free and they, again, depend on feedback from the Mafia 3 community.

A new update for the PS4 is out and it looks like the company is working on Mafia 3 updates for all platforms including the PC and Xbox One. The PS4 Mafia 3 update is a hotfix that should improve the game’s overall stability on the console.

Be on the lookout for new hotfixes and updates as we approach the end of the year.

Mafia 3 Glitches

Mafia 3 Glitches

Mafia 3 is plagued with some extremely frustating problems but there are some amusing ones as well.

YouTube user CrowbCat has put together a compilation that showcases some of Mafia 3's glitches. Some of them are hilarious, others will want to make you pull your hair out.

You'll see Lincoln fall through the floor. You'll see issues with the game's cover system. You'll see terrible AI play. And you'll also see some bugs that are downright weird.

Hanger 13 has a lot of work ahead and we're hopeful that at least some of these get tackled in the game's next patch.

Stay tuned.

Xbox 1 needs a massive fixing. Hardly started the game and have had to replay missions over and over and over and over and over and over again. No exaggeration. Bloody over it

Just bought mafia 3 for Xbox one, and now I’m thinking it was a waste of time and money. Nothing but glitches and replaying missions over and over. Straight garbage
