The Skyrim remaster is finally available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC and gamers around the world have jumped into an upgraded version of Tamriel. Skyrim Special Edition features upgraded graphics, all of the Skyrim DLC, and mods for Xbox One and PS4. It’s a solid package but it’s far from perfect.

As we push away from the game’s release date and the release of the 1.1 patch, we continue to hear about the Skyrim Special Edition problems plaguing Xbox One, PS4 and PC owners.

Skyrim Special Edition owners are running into a myriad of issues with the game. Problems include frequent crashes, issues with graphics, problems with various quests, and an assortment of other issues.

Some issues can be fixed manually, others require fixes from the developer itself. Fortunately, Bethesda isn’t sitting on its hands.

In early November, the company released its 1.1 patch. The 1.1 patch is now old news as the company’s trotted out a brand new Skyrim 1.2 patch for all Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC users.

If you’re running out of space on your system’s hard drive, you’ll want to free up some space for this update.

To confirm that you’ve successfully installed the update, pause the game and head on over to the System tab. In the lower-left corner, you should see the updated version of Skyrim Special Edition. The update is known as 1.04 for PlayStation 4.

Bug Fixes

The 1.2 patch for Skyrim Special Edition doesn’t bring any new features to the game. Instead, it’s focused on fixing some of Skyrim Special Edition’s glaring problems.

The new Skyrim Special Edition patch comes with Bethesda’s vague and well-known “general performance and optimization improvements.” The patch should cut down on the number of crashes occurring on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

On top of that, it also brings the set of bug fixes listed below. These are the same bug fixes that emerged in the beta for PC.

  • Fixed issue related to using alt-tab while playing the game (PC)
  • Fixed issue with water flow not rendering properly
  • Fixed crash related to changing from werewolf back to human form
  • Fixed crash related to reloading after changing Load Order of mods
  • General bug fixing and improvements with browsing Mods

One of our favorite Skyrim mods for PC is now available for console.

A Quality World Map by IcePenguin is an essential mod for PC. And now that it's available for console, it's an essential mod for Xbox One. (It's not available for PS4 yet.)

Bethesda's vanilla Skyrim map is decent enough but this mod takes it to the next level with improved textures and detailed roads.

The developer has literally drawn out every single road in the game and needless to say, it's impressive. And useful.

For more info, take a look at the video below.

There are several versions of this mod available for Xbox One including one with a brand new style.
