Do you need a new Mac to get your work done? If so there is no reason to wait at this point. It's not like the 2017 iMac release date is a week away, it is likely months from now. 

If your current iMac died and you need a new one to keep up with work, you will likely need to suck it up and spend your money. 

You could look into buying a 2016 MacBook Pro that way you have a new mobile powerhouse and then add in a 2017 iMac later this year, but either way you will be spending a decent amount of money.
