9 Things to Know About the iPhone 7 iOS 10.3.3 Update

Published

on

Our guide to Apple’s iPhone 7 iOS 10.3.3 update takes you through the most important things to know about the software as we push into August.

The iPhone 7’s iOS 10.3.3 update is just a small maintenance update but even small iOS updates can have a huge impact your device’s performance.

Some iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus owners have noticed improved performance after installing the iOS 10.3.3 update onto their device. Other users are complaining about various iOS 10.3.3 problems including weird battery drain, Bluetooth issues, Wi-Fi problems, and issues with their most important applications and services.

It’s impossible to predict how iOS 10.3.3 will perform on your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus so you’ll want to be extremely careful with Apple’s latest. This is much more important now that Apple’s closed off the iOS 10.3.2 downgrade. Once you upgrade to iOS 10.3.3, you’re stuck.

With that in mind, we want to guide you through the iPhone 7 iOS 10.3.3 update’s performance, its problems, and some of the changes it brings to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

We’ll help you prepare for the iOS 10.3.3 update if you haven’t installed it on your device and we’ll also take you through the key iPhone 7 jailbreak details if you’re into that sort of thing.

The situation is still extremely fluid so we’ll continue to update this roundup with new information. Check back in with us for regular updates as we push deeper into the month.

iPhone 7 iOS 10.3.3: Impressions & Performance

iPhone 7 iOS 10.3.3: Impressions & Performance

First, let's talk a little bit about the iOS 10.3.3 download and installation process.

If you haven't downloaded the iPhone 7 iOS 10.3.3 update yet know that should take under a minute to complete over a fast Wi-Fi connection. The iOS 10.3.3 update is 137MB if you're coming directly to it from iOS 10.3.2.

As for the installation process, it took about seven minutes to complete. That's pretty standard for a bug fix update.

Mileage will vary but we recommend putting aside 10-15 minutes to monitor your iOS 10.3.3 download and installation. For more on the iOS 10.3.3 download and installation process, please take a look at our guide.

As for the iPhone 7 iOS 10.3.3 update's performance, we've spent a few weeks using the the update on the regular model and the Plus model. We've been keeping an eye on a few key areas including battery life and connectivity. Here's what we've discovered thus far.

Battery life is holding steady. We haven't noticed any of the severe battery drain plaguing other iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus users.

Apple's iOS updates aren't supposed to kill your battery life so if you do see something strange, take a look at our list of tips to improve battery life.

Wi-Fi, cellular data and Bluetooth connectivity are all holding up. We've tested the phone with several different routers (including eero) and Bluetooth devices and we haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. LTE and 4G are also working properly.

Random reboots have been a problem on our iPhone 7 models but we haven't noticed any during our time on iOS 10.3.3.

We haven't noticed any user interface lag either. Animations and transitions are still fast and fluid and on par with the speed of iOS 10.3.1 and iOS 10.3.2.

So far the iPhone 7 iOS 10.3.3 update feels stable on our iPhone 7 models. And given the amount of security patches on board (two dozen), it's probably worth a download.

We recently put together a list of reasons to, and not to install Apple's iOS 10.3.3 update on your iPhone right now.

If you're on the fence about making the jump to the company's upgrade, we recommend going through that before making your move.

Hi Adam , I have read many good/bad reviews , but none have mentioned that the Privacy in Safari has changed ? The only thing that works is “Block cookies” ? The way it used to work to stop vast amount of cookies infiltrating was to tick Safari / Privacy / “Allow from website I visit ” . It does not now work , it allows many sites you haven’t been on ? It has changed since 9.3 . . .
Just wondered why this has not been covered . .

I just bought the IPhone 7 and updated it to 10.2 with no issues thus far. But I have noticed you have to keep up with closing apps and pages in a timely manner or battery and performance will suffer. I’m currently getting roughly a day off one charge with moderate usage. I would recommend updating in a timely manner due to security and threat of hackers.

    cheers.

So for no iOS 10 patch has fixed the problem that occur when they released iOS 10. Swiping to the Alarm on a locked phone you cannot change OR verify the Volume of the ring! I brought this up to Apple right way back in October, they acknowledge that this was now happening when it was working okay in older iOS releases. I was even given a Case Number and a contact person. I was told I would get frequent updates until the matter was resolved. After the first month they stopped the updates and communicating to me! This problem occurs both in the 6s and 7s as I understand.

I would be lying if I say that this update was good for my phone! Newly bought and was 2 weeks old & I updated it to IOS 10.2 and 4 days after the installation, my phone literally died and after a week it was replaced by a new phone from Apple. So you cannot rely on the reviews posted in here. I still haven’t updated the new phone.

Why can’t I share photos with friends or on FB? Unable to share, there was an error while preparing to share. Has been this way for 4 days.

After 6-8 weeks of saying no to upgrade 10.3.2, iPhone 7 finally did it on its own overnight when connected to wifi…now the phone says “no SIM card installed” and I’ve tried to reset 2x, turned off then on, with no luck. Phone only works with wifi….ugh!
