2048 Tips & Tricks for a Higher Score
2048 is a fun puzzle game for the iPhone and Android that combines matching with the square shifting puzzles popular as kids game for an addictive game that can be played again and again. Here are 7 2048 tips and tricks to get a higher score.
The 2048 game is easy to learn, but it’s tough to master the strategies needed to get a high score on the leader boards or when competing against friends.
Like Three’s, the 2048 game is all about planning out moves and picking where to slide the pieces without filling up the board. Instead of 1’s and 2’s this game uses 2’s and 4’s to add up to increasing numbers.
2048 is free on the iTunes App Store and on the Google Play Store. There are multiple versions of this game available on the Google Play Store including one that works with ChromeCast. The iOS and Android versions are from different sellers, so expect some differences in game play.
Here are several 2048 tips and tricks to get a higher score without cheating.
Set Up a Line of Matches
If you only pay attention to one of these 2048 tips, this is the one to look at. If you start to accumulate tiles on the board, the best bet to clear it out is to set up a line of matches. If you can line up 2’s or 4’s or 8’s it’s easy to chain them together to end up with a 32 or 64 with little effort.
Sometimes you will make these on purpose, other times you’ll need to clear the board and can look a few moves ahead to get them lined up. This is a great way to rack up higher points and to keep matches close to each other.
Go Slow
It’s easy to get in the habit of moving fast in a simple game like this, but if you want to get a high score you should slow down and look for the next several moves. This lets you plan out where the next tile will come in at and how to match to set up other matches or to get your higher numbers near each other.
Sadly there is no way to preview the way the move will look like with Three’s, but this is still an important step. Keep in mind the blocks will always come from the side opposite the move.
Push to a Corner
The easiest way to rack up a high score and big tiles quickly is to continually push tiles to one corner. By moving the tiles to the bottom left corner with 90% of your moves the 2’s and 4’s will add up quickly.
By doing this it is easy to get a 64 or 128 right off the bat. If you get clogged in one corner after a higher tile arrives, switch to a new corner for a little bit. Soon you will learn when to switch corners to get the next match. This pairs well with setting up a line of matches.
Keep Potential Matches Free
In addition to the corner strategy, the biggest thing to keep in mind is where your big matches are. There’s nothing as frustrating in 2048 as getting big numbers in opposite corners and losing the game before you can match them.
Using the corner and line strategies will help with this, but the other thing to learn is how to move the pieces around. Stack up a row or column next to start shifting pieces around.
Move Without a Match
To get those matches paired up you’ll need to make some moves without a match. Quick side-to-side and up-and-down moves can help shift large tiles closer together.
Spend a game or two where you don’t care about the score learning how to move a tile from top to bottom. You need to bring in a tile or remove a tile from the row above or below and then do a left and then a down move to move one place.
It’s Usually a 2, But Not Always
Unlike Three’s the new tile is normally a 2, but eventually users will start to get larger numbers coming in.
When the board is packed, try to bring on new tiles near a 2 and a 4, so that you can make a match either way.
Know When to Clear the Board
Even with all the strategies in the world, you’ll eventually hit a roadblock and need to clear the board to keep going. If the board gets to past half full, you need to start thinking about switching to survival mode.
In survival mode you need to make sure that every move clears at least one tile, with a focus on clearing multiple tiles and looking for chances to create a line of matches to get the board back to a point where you can think about the score again.

3 tips to winning 2048 game:
TIP 1 – Do not use the up arrow key unless you have no moves left except that.
TIP 2 – Always try to keep the high valued blocks in the bottom row and try to arrange the scores on the block in the descending order from to Left to right (last row) and then right to left in the second last row in the pattern.
TIP 3 – After achieving the above pattern it will be just too easy to get the 2048 tile by merging the 8 and 8 tiles to get 16, 16 and 16 tiles to get 32 and go on until you get the 2048 tile by merging the 1024 and 1024 tile.
