Apple's iPhone refresh typically happens in September followed by an iPad refresh in October ahead of the holidays. It's looking like 2015 will offer similar timing to those who are in the market for a brand new Apple slate.

Last year, Apple released an iPad Air 2 and an iPad mini 3. While the iPad Air 2 was impressive, the iPad mini 3 was underwhelming. It's not a bad tablet by any means but it's not much different from the iPad mini 2, also known as the iPad mini with Retina Display.

This year, Apple could have three new iPads up its sleeve for the holiday. Rumors are pointing to an iPad Air 2-like iPad mini 4, an A9-powered iPad Air 3 and perhaps, a 12-inch iPad Pro

None of these iPads are confirmed and of them, the iPad mini 4 seems most likely given last year's modest upgrades. But with iOS 9 heavily focused on improving the iPad's software, there's a chance that Apple will try and wow consumers with a massive change to the iPad lineup.
