Thunderbolt Display

While iPhone and iPad product cycles are easy to predict, the product cycles for other Apple products are far more difficult to determine. Take the Thunderbolt display for example.

Its been three years since Apple released the Thunderbolt display and consumers are starting to get antsy. At this point, there are no credible rumors to speak of but some believe that Apple the arrival Intel's Skylake processors might finally usher in a new Thunderbolt display.

Intel's new chip features USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt 3 support. Some believe that a refresh could come in late 2015 or perhaps in early 2016. Nothing is confirmed.

At this point, the Thunderbolt display is extremely expensive ($999) for what it is. There are plenty of other monitors out there that offer high-powered specs like 4K resolution for a fraction of the cost. So if you can't wait for Apple to refresh its Thunderbolt display, we recommend buying something other than Apple's monitor.
