Video game developer Ubisoft didn’t exactly do itself any favors when it released Assassin’s Creed Syndicate earlier this year. For the most part, the company was quiet about the game. In hindsight, it had to have known that the events that transpired after the launch of Assassin’s Creed Unity, Syndicate’s predecessor, would mean lasting damage for the franchise.

It’s a shame that Unity harmed sales of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Syndicate is perhaps one of the best games that we’ve seen in the series for sometime. It effortlessly remixes elements of all previous Assassin’s Creed games into something that’s relevant and fun to play.

The Rooks act as the perfect companions, giving you the feeling that you’re actually leading a London street gang and taking on another criminal enterprise. Jacob and Evie Frye are perfect recreations of different assassins. Whereas Jacob is bold, brash and physical like Edward Kenway, Evie is sly, sneaky and methodical in her approach to the problems that face London. She’s more like famous assassin Ezio than she is her brother.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate first debuted on the Xbox One back in October, but it’s still a fine action game that’s only more interesting now that you can purchase a season pass and immediately download its Jack The Ripper Add-On and tons of extras. Here’s some tips to get you through the game, whether you’re playing for the first time now or started and stopped playing back in October.

Treat Leather like a very, very precious commodity. You’ll need all of it as you fill out your characters.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate the Templars and character Starrick from controlling the normal populace. Starrick could charitably be described as a businessman. Really, he’s a crime boss that has his tendrils all over the London establishment.  There to aid you are some of history’s most inspiring figures and a street gang Jacob pieces together called The Rooks.

The Rooks are great because they’re your counterweight to Starrick and the Templars. As you earn skins and in-game currency you can invest in The Rooks and build your force’s abilities. The Rooks will take orders from you, helping you out of situations that you find yourself in. You can explicitly tell a gaggle of them to follow you and aid in a story mission or side mission if they’re close by. They’re terrific a distraction or as backup should you ever need it.

Don’t play Assassin’s Creed Syndicate like a lone wolf. The Rooks are there to help you. Call them in when you think you’ll need the help.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Tips: Drive

Syndicate isn’t the first game to feature transportation in a big way. That honor goes to Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag. It is the first game to heavily feature cars though and they come in handy often.

If you need to get somewhere, hijack a carriage and go there. You’ll save a bit more time than if you climbed over rooftops and you’ll get to have some fun while you do it. Sometimes members of your Rooks gang are waiting for you outside a location to take you to where you want to go.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Tips: Learn Combat Early

Brawling, that’s what you’ll be doing a lot of in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Ubsioft gives you the tools you need to become the assassin that best fits your play style.

Regardless of what style you choose, get used to the combat system in the game. Moves revolve around attack, countering and breaking defenses. To be successfully, you can’t just keep hitting attack. Start by taking on street thugs to get an idea of timing. Remember to keep your eyes open for any indicators or gold glow when an enemy is about to strike.

    The game plays great on GTX 970 (Remember to turn off PCSS) enjoy stable 60fps. Syndicate is not only a very interesting Assassin’s Creed experience, is also a polished sandbox and it has some interesting new gameplay features.
