5 Best AT&T Smartphones [February, 2014]

There are some big smartphones on the horizon, the HTC M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5 in particular, but from here, it looks like neither of them will make it onto shelves during the month of February. This means that for the month of February, smartphone rosters at carriers like AT&T are going to stay static.

In just a few short weeks, we should see two of the biggest smartphones of the year touch down. Rumors put the HTC M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5 launch dates on dates that are just a few weeks away, meaning, some of the biggest carriers in the United States are likely starting to finalize their launch plans. Make no mistake about it, both of these will come to major U.S. carriers.

Neither device is going to make it shelves in February though and that means that AT&T and consumers looking for a new device in the month of February will have to make do with the carrier’s current smartphone lineup.

2013 was a strong year for AT&T. It aggressively expanded its 4G LTE network and it also shored up its smartphone lineup with a number of big name releases. In the beginning of the year we saw the carrier push out the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4. Later in the year, AT&T released devices like the Samsung Galaxy Mega and LG G2.

AT&T’s smartphone lineup hasn’t changed much from 2013 thanks to a slow start to the beginning of the year. Flagship devices remain out of reach which means that AT&T is left peddling last year’s smartphone crop. Fortunately, AT&T’s current crop of devices is very good, so good in fact, that many consumers will have trouble picking out a new device this month.

The iPhone 5s remains one of AT&T's best smartphone options and will likely remain one until Apple decides to replace it with an iPhone 6. Apple's latest iPhone comes with all of the bells and whistles that consumers have come to expect from a tier one smartphone including a solid camera, big time processor, and useful software. It also helps that those buying into the device should get three years of software support. The price likely won't fluctuate much but for $199.99 or more, buyers should know that they will be getting a smartphone that will last over the course of several years.
