If you’re in the hunt for a brand new Verizon phone, you’re going to be faced with a very difficult decision because the carrier’s current lineup is as solid as it has ever been. In an effort to help those in need this month, we take a look at the devices we think are the five best Verizon phones money can buy in the month of December.

In the past 11 months, we’ve seen smartphone manufacturers, and U.S. carriers, unleash a number of big time smartphones. Early in the year, it was the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8. More recently, its been devices like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, LG G3, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and Moto X that have lured in consumers looking for a brand new device on Big Red’s massive LTE network. Choice is great but only if you know what to do with it and there are plenty of Verizon customers who are lost.

That kind of choice presents problems for anyone but particularly for those that aren’t caught up with the latest devices. Many of Verizon’s flagships share similar hardware and many offer similar software features under different names. Back in September, Apple's new iPhone 6 replaced the iPhone 5s as the company's high-end iPhone flagship. Unsurprisingly, iPhone 6 is considered by many to be one of the best smartphones on the planet and a device that smartphone shoppers should look at before settling on a Verizon smartphone this holiday season.

Apple's iPhone 6 comes with an assortment of top notch features including a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, a speedy A8 processor, a fantastic rear camera, a metal design, Touch ID fingerprint technology, tons of storage space, and the company's brand new iOS 8 operating system.

The iPhone 6 isn't cheap at Verizon, it starts at $199.99, but those that buy into the new iPhone will be getting one of the best phones on the market and one that should last three years or more thanks to new iOS software updates. Apple tends to keep iPhones updated for three years before kicking them to the curb.

Where is the DROID Turbo!?!?! Arguably the best smartphone out there doesn’t get a spot?! And the Nexus 6 powerhouse also is nowhere to be found?? But 2 iPhones, both of which pale in comparison to the aforementioned phones, somehow make the list?
