Prospective LG G2 buyers will want to take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S5 before settling on last year's model.

Samsung's current flagship offers some likeable features including a dust and water resistant design, tons of storage space, a fantastic camera, beautiful display, and more. The key feature that buyers will want to focus in on is TouchWiz, the UI that Samsung puts on top of its smartphones.

TouchWiz differs from LG's software in both looks and functionality and many Android users prefer one to the other. It's a personal choice and one that you'll need to figure out before buying.

Best of all, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is available for cheap through retailers like Amazon. It's not as cheap as the LG G2 but with a sub-$100 price, it's certainly worth a look.

Funny, I swapped my LG G2 for a Nokia 1020 and have upgraded it to 8.1 with the Developer Preview option (which by the way anyone can be part of easily and for free) and I haven’t looked back. The Nokia 1020 with 8.1 completely outclasses the G2 or any of the other phones listed here minus the G3 which is a stout competitor. I say it’s funny because while the Nokia is also a year old, it is still regarded by those that use it as a powerful sturdy device with surprising capabilities for it’s age. Word has it that the Nokia Mclaren (code name) is the next phone that will succeed the 1020’s place atop the camera phone heap that the 1020 has held for over a year. Can’t wait to see that beast and hope it keeps up with the 1020’s robustness and capabilities.

The N5 is an appealing prospect. But considering price an screen realestate. I think I’ll go whit the G2. I mean, compared with the likes of the SGS4, HTC’s one m7 and motoX.
