The Nexus 5 remains Google's top Android smartphone and a smartphone that we think prospective LG G2 buyers need to rule out before diving in.

You should check out the Nexus 5 for a few reasons but the most important is so that you can rule out its stock Android software. The Nexus 5 comes with basic, stock Google Android which is also called vanilla Android. Many people prefer it to LG's user interface.

The Nexus 5 also comes with some likeable hardware, fast software updates from Google and a cheap price tag that starts at $350 unlocked. That's a great price for one of the best Android smartphones ever made.

Do yourself a favor and consider this phone before coming to a decision on your next smartphone. Who knows, you might just pick this bad boy up.

Funny, I swapped my LG G2 for a Nokia 1020 and have upgraded it to 8.1 with the Developer Preview option (which by the way anyone can be part of easily and for free) and I haven’t looked back. The Nokia 1020 with 8.1 completely outclasses the G2 or any of the other phones listed here minus the G3 which is a stout competitor. I say it’s funny because while the Nokia is also a year old, it is still regarded by those that use it as a powerful sturdy device with surprising capabilities for it’s age. Word has it that the Nokia Mclaren (code name) is the next phone that will succeed the 1020’s place atop the camera phone heap that the 1020 has held for over a year. Can’t wait to see that beast and hope it keeps up with the 1020’s robustness and capabilities.

The N5 is an appealing prospect. But considering price an screen realestate. I think I’ll go whit the G2. I mean, compared with the likes of the SGS4, HTC’s one m7 and motoX.
