5 Reasons to Buy Metal Gear Solid 5 Right Now

Published

on

The Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain release date is extremely close and we’re starting to see critics provide feedback about Konami and Hideo Kojima’s latest installment in the series. With that in mind, we want to take a look at some reasons why you should pre-order Metal Gear Solid 5 ahead of its September 1st release.

Earlier this year, Konami finally confirmed official Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain release date details. The game, the official follow-up for Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, is confirmed for a September 1st release date on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, and PlayStation 3.

The PC Metal Gear Solid 5 release date was originally confirmed for mid-September though the company has since moved its release up to join the arrival on consoles. September 1st is shaping up to be a big day. And with Metal Gear Solid 5 gaining momentum, tons of people are starting to wonder if the game might be worth a pre-order.

Today, we want to give you five great reasons to order Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain ahead of its release date in September.

Remember, if you do decide to pre-order the game, make sure you order the game from the right place. Retailers have different policies and you’ll want to be aware of those before you make your move.

You Love Metal Gear Solid

If you are a fan of the Metal Gear series and you’ve already played Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes (and liked it), there’s no reason to skip out on this title.

This could be series creator’s Hideo Kojima’s last collaboration with Konami. He’s expected to leave the company before the end of the year and that will, if true, have a significant impact on the future of the Metal Gear series.

Kojima has said that he planned to make this his greatest game to date so if you’re a fan of the man, his work, and the Metal Gear Solid series as a whole, this is probably going to be a game that you love.

This game is going to be Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, on steroids. So if you’ve played it, and you enjoyed it, there’s a very good chance that this game is going to be worth an early order. If you haven’t played it already, note that it’s available for free for Xbox Live Gold members until September 1st. Play it and see what you think.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Reviews

It’s rare that we see sites like IGN and GameSpot shell out a 10 out of 10 rating for a game. It’s even rarer when sites like IGN and GameSpot give a score of 10 to the same game. And that’s what makes the Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain release so exciting. Both of these sites, and a number of other critics, gave the game high marks.

Games that receive these types of marks are typically one-of-a-kind titles that deliver something extraordinary. Here are some other games that have received perfect 10’s over the years. You’ll very quickly notice that Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain keeps pretty good company:

  • The Witcher 3
  • Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3
  • Soul Calibur
  • Metal Gear Solid 4
  • Grand Theft Auto 4

It’s rare that games get this kind of universal acclaim. And it’s a great reason to consider pre-ordering this game ahead of its release in September. This will almost certainly be one of the best games of the year and it looks like it could be one of the best games ever made.

You Want to Play it ASAP

If you want to play the game as soon as it comes out, you’ll want to pre-order it from Microsoft, Sony’s PlayStation or through a retailer like Amazon.

Microsoft and Sony will allow you to pre-load the digital version of the game onto the PlayStation or Xbox ahead of the game’s release. This way, you’ll be able to play right when the clock strikes midnight on September 1st.

We haven’t seen any midnight releases confirmed yet so a digital pre-order might be the only way you’ll get to play early in the morning on September 1st.

If you don’t want to deal with lines or leaving the house, you’ll want to pre-order the game digitally. Just be sure to clear up some space for the game before you download. It will be a fairly big file.

You Want Pre-Order Bonuses

If you want a ton of Metal Gear Solid 5 items for free, you might want to think about a pre-order.

If you pre-order the game, you’ll receive a Day One edition that includes a physical map, Adam-ska Special Handgun, Personal Ballistic Shield (Silver), Wetland Cardboard box, Fatigues outfit (Blue Urban Snake Costume), and a Metal Gear Online XP boost. All of this is free if you pre-order the game.

It’s not clear how much these items might cost after the game’s release. Metal Gear Solid 5 will feature micro-transactions but they aren’t necessary to beat the game. They’re just extra.

Pre-Order for Deals

And finally, there’s at least one Metal Gear Solid 5 pre-order deal.

Best Buy is offering $10 in My Best Buy Rewards if you pre-order Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. If you do a lot of shopping at Best Buy, or if you’re planning to buy a bunch of games in the near future (Fallout 4? Madden?) the deal might be worth it to you.

Best Buy is also offering the game for $48 to those in the Buyers Club Unlocked program though you’ll need to pay an admission fee to take advantage of that deal.
