Every year millions of gamers around the world stop what they’re doing. They clear their schedules of any distractions and work hard to make sure that they don’t have any errands during launch time. These gamers find the nearest television set or internet-equipped device and settle in for all the biggest video game announcements coming from their favorite studios and platform makers.

Historically, Sony and Microsoft have always had the most attention lavished on their briefings. That could change with E3 2015. This year, it seems just as many people are hyped for the Nintendo E3 2015 Press Event as everyone else’s and that’s because of just how spectacular the company has handled itself in the last year or so. Having reduced the price of its Wii U gaming console as the Xbox One and PS4 hit store shelves, Nintendo focused on delivering experiences users just couldn’t get anywhere else.

Super Smash Bros was a big hit for the company on both the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS. Mario Kart 8 was hit for the company too. Nintendo recently shared the code name for its NX follow-up to the Wii U, tough it isn’t ready to talk about the console in detail yet. Follow all of that up with a commitment to developing Nintendo iPhone games and the stage is set. E3 2015 could be Nintendo’s break out year.

Here are 5 Wii U games we expect to see at E3 2015.

Star Fox Wii U

By far, Star Fox was the biggest showstopper at E3 2014. Nostalgia and a longing for a simpler time was a big factor in that. There are millions of adults around the world who all discovered gaming when their parents purchased them a Nintendo 64 and Star Fox 64.

In Star Fox you’re the pilot of your own space plane and other rescue vehicles. Using bombs and power-ups you’re trying to end the reign of every enemy in sight. In some of the basic levels from past games you had a team of people to help. Star Fox for Wii U mixes it up a bit.

First, there’s the new vehicles. A tank, a helicopter and a refreshed Airwing. Gamers will still use these vehicles to stop enemies, but Nintendo is rethinking the Star Fox experience for a new generation of gamers. The Wii U GamePad has its own screen and Star Fox Wii U uses that screen to give users a look at the their cockpit. Moving the Wii U GamePad changes the camera angle on-screen. Nintendo is aiming for an episodic story this time around.

When we’ll see Star Fox Wii U launch is unclear at this point. Early on it was believed that Star Fox Wii U was coming this year. Nintendo hasn’t said much about the game since last year’s show.

Why would they bother occupying precious presentation time focusing on Yoshi’s Woolly World when the European Release is less than two weeks away?

Because the North American version doesn’t have a release date and E3 mainly caters to the North American gaming audience
