7 Phones You Shouldn’t Buy Right Now (2014)

LG G2

The LG G2's presence here might come as a bit of a surprise given our infatuation with the device. We thought it was one of the best smartphones of 2013 and it's a device that we recommended all the way up until the arrival of the LG G3 this summer. Now, it's a difficult device to recommend and here's why.

LG's new LG G3 is one of the best smartphones on the market and in our opinion, it trumps what the LG G2 has to offer. From its software to its new camera to its Quad HD display, the LG G3 is one of the best smartphones on the market. Here's the kicker though.

The LG G3 is now available for virtually nothing. Yes, one of the best smartphones in the world, one that's only been out for about a half a year, is already in the bargain bin. We've seen it for as little as a penny on-contract, or, a penny more than the LG G2 at some retailers.

Again, you have to think of this like an investment. The LG G2 will get Android 5.0 Lollipop but it hits the two year mark next year which means that its support will likely end. The LG G3? It's only about half a year old and it's going to get a ton of support going forward. Because of that, we can't recommend the LG G2 anymore. The LG G3 is just too cheap.

So we should not buy three generation old phones. OK then, you talked me into it.

I couldn’t agree more. I bought the Samsung Galaxy S3 in December 2013. It is so slow! I can’t wait until my contact is up so I can replace it.

It’s completely frustrating that the manufacturers purposely leave updates to existing phones in the dust to encourage purchases of their newest generation of phones.

If a manufacturer ever begins to be as good about supporting existing phones as their newest phones, they will have my loyalty for life.

Just don’t buy Samsung. Their Touchwiz UI is so shitty. But phones like the Note 4 can run it smoothly but apparently the S5 is a no go. If your looking for a new phone get the HTC One M8 or M9 best phone I have ever had, and I have had the Oneplus One, Note 3, Blackberry Z10, Nexus 5 and iPhone 5S.
