8 Things You Didn’t Know About the Galaxy S8

Faster Performance with UFS 2.1 Storage

Faster Performance with UFS 2.1 Storage

This is another rather technical spec regarding the Galaxy S8, but an incredibly important one. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ come with 64GB of internal storage, instead of only 32GB like previous models. Giving us more room for movies, apps, games, photos, taking 4K video and more. 32GB of storage simply isn't enough anymore, and Samsung knows that.

Even more important though, is just how fast that 64GB of storage in the phone actually is. Samsung is using what's called UFS 2.1 instead of 2.0 for the Galaxy S8 and S8+. Without getting too techy on you, this just means that everything will be faster when it comes to internal storage.

Installing applications will be faster, loading games or apps will be faster, uninstalls, taking 4K video or burst photography. Even transferring photos and files to or from a computer will be faster. This helps with tasks big and small. Every time we open an app or game it loads from internal storage. Now that will be significantly faster, which will improve performance across the board. This is a small but big change in the grand scheme of things. You'll notice a big performance boost with these new phones.

And, in the future Samsung wants to release UFS microSD cards, which could debut on the Galaxy Note 8. Making our external add-on storage as fast as the built-in storage. Which has always been a problem. Having an SD card is great, but the internal storage on our phones is always faster. Not for long though.
