A good visit with Motion Computing

- Rob Bushway

Motion Computing has a meeting booth in the Sands - good to see them have some type of presence here. We spent about 30 minutes talking with Erin Maher, Motion's PR Manager. Scott Eckert, Erin Maher, and others from Motion Computing will be at the Tablet PC / UMPC meetup tonight, as well. A little birdie told me that Motion has quite the give-away planned for tonight :-)

From a product news perspective, Erin Maher told us that they plan on releasing a new vertically focused product this quarter. In addition, they plan on adding new products to the roadmap this year, as well coming out with upgrades to their existing line.

Should be an interesting year for Motion.

I was really hoping for a new LE1600 about the time Vista rolled out. Doesn't sound like that is in the near future.

I am looking for the equivalent of a slate with SXGA under 3lbs. So I would be satisfied with a LE1600 if it offered SXGA!

I'm waiting for a slate with 3g and an active digitiser so I'd like an LS800 with HSPDA. Don't know what the vertical product you mention but I long ago accepted I wasn't a 'normal' consumer, if by vertical they mean ruggedised that would be a bit of yawn for me.
