Add InkSeine's Floating Tool Ring To Your Arsenal

- Warner Crocker

If you’re like me (and a number of InkSeine users) one of my favorite  features of this great pen enabled application is the Floating Tool Ring. It allows you to scroll easily with the pen, or grab a snapshot of information. Well, guess what? Apparently you don’t need to have InkSeine running to take advantage of the Floating Tool Ring.

Scroll-control-drag-to-startup

Ken Hinckley picked up a tip from a user and has published the quick how-to on his blog, The AlpineInker. Because the application that controls the Floating Tool Ring is separate from InkSeine, you can add it to your Start Up menu or QuickLaunch, or just as a shortcut on your desktop.

Check out the how-to here.

Even though the "notebook metaphor" kept InkSeine low on my list of priorities, I kept an eye on the conversations because of that tool ring. Looks like I'll have to come up with another reason because I'm grabbing that tool ring now.

BTW, now that it's standalone, I think the Floating Tool Ring needs s snazzier name. Maybe something along the lines of "One Ring to Rule Them All" but less wordy, or maybe relate it to Saturn or Green Lantern.

@Sumocat- regarding the notebook metaphor, is it the no scrolling / discrete page model that was a turn-off, or something else? We're always looking for ideas to improve what we are doing going forward, especially from savvy tablet folks like you :-)

A snazzier name would probably be good. Given my spotty history with naming things, I should probably not even attempt this though!

Anyone who hasn't seen Sumocat's posts about using Ript in combination with Build 52 of his Ink Blogging tool should definitely check it out. The results just look so cool!

Ken: That's pretty much it. Page resizing is a must-have for me, despite the hindrances it entails, but I understand a more paper-like experience is important to bring in the uninitiated. As long as it draws in interest, that's cool.
