Apple To Adopt Intel's Ultra Mobile Platform

- Warner Crocker

In a week that saw a legal settlement shut down one Apple rumor site, AppleInsider is reporting that Apple is going to adopt Intel’s Ultra-Mobile PC platform for future devices. The Menlow platform (by the way if you’re looking for a great discussion of the Menlow platform listen to Sierra’s explanation of it on this week’s GBM Podcast) has been touted since this year’s Intel Devleoper’s Forum and is what a lot of folks are pinning their hopes on for the future of small mobile devices.

I don’t know that this is earth shattering news, given Apple’s move to Intel for most of its line, but for all of those watching the mobile space and wondering what Apple’s next big move will be it certainly is intriguing if it is more than a rumor.

I will say that this is distinctly not earth-shattering. Bigger news would be if they did not adopt it.

Watch out about spreading those Apple rumors, Warner. They'll be at your door with a summons. ;-)
