Asus R2H UMPC Usability InkShow

- Matt Faulkner

Here is the  second installment of the Asus R2H Ultra Mobile PC InkShows.  In this InkShow, I get up close and personal with the R2H, focusing on usability of the UMPC.  I give an overview of some of the Asus Utilities that are installed on the device.  I also run thru some Office applications so everybody can see load times and what they look like running on a UMPC.

So far, I am very pleased with the R2H.  There are a few quirks here and there, but the performance has been better than I expected.  And the GPS unit built in is great (the GBM team finally tracked me down...).  Now that the overview of the unit from the factory install is done, time to put Vista on there for a longer period of time...  RTM can't get on MSDN fast enough!!

If you have any questions you want answered, head over to the forums in the Asus section, I'll be there to answer what I can.

Enjoy!

An ok presentation, and I was quite surprised at the speed of the device. All applications started up very quickly indeed for being a Celeron 900. Is the tested version with the standard 768 MB memory? Also I was missing a test of the GPS and the webcamera - those are the two features that really separate this from a lot of the other UMPCs. Would also be nice if you could tell something about the batterylifetime on it with the standard and the extended battery. Thank you.
