Breaking: Fujitsu T5010 Tablet PC Specs, Picture Get Outed

- Rob Bushway

imageThe Virginia Tech University bookstore has Fujitu's newest Tablet PC posted: the T5010 Tablet PC. This is the T4220's successor. The specs look quite interesting, sporting a 13.3" WXGA LED backlit screen and built-in camera. The T4220 (previous model) has a 12" screen with a SXGA, so there is an obvious change there. The processor is not known at this point. Priced at $1999, available for pre-ordering at the university bookstore if you are a student there, and looks to be available in August. They will be displaying models during their July orientation.

Expect official news from Fujitsu on the T5010 soon.

Update: more on the T5010, thanks to robphy:

A google search turned up:
1)
www.fujitsu-siemens.at/Resources/20/61485767.pdf (p. 36) says

also has a picture [though not as nice as the one above] on p.41

That price point should be lower than what the configuration would cost from Fujitsu directly, since they've partnered with VT (education discounts, etc). That being said, there's a slightly upconfigured model on the bookstore for around 2400.

Fingers crossed that the comment at the bottom of the bookstore page isn't true about it being the only Montevina tablet out before the Aug 1 deadline.

Note that there is a second configuration (Fujitsu T5010 2, Item #C8056) with 4GB available at www.bookstore.vt.edu/ePOS?this_category=300&store=1&listtype=begin&form=shared3%2fgm%2fbrowse%2ehtml&design=vt

The computer requirements at www.eng.vt.edu/academics/comp_require.php suggest that the T5010 processor is at least a "Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz".

Using www.intel.com/products/processor_number/chart/core2duo.htm with the VT description of a "45nm processor" and "DDR3 1066MHz" RAM, the only such processor listed is "2.53 GHz (1066 MHz) E7200 (45 nm) with 3MB L2".

Now I'm not so sure... Is the E7200 for notebooks?

I don't believe that list includes the latest set of Penryns that will come out in a month. Especially since DDR3 in part of the Centrino 2 platform.
