CES 2008: A Look at the NoahPad Ultra Mobile PC

- Matt Faulkner

When Warner and I were at the Sands Convention Center we stopped over at the NoahPad Ultra Portable Computer booth.  We have a great video showing the unit on all sides, the keyboard in action and at look at how it's used as a mouse pad.  It's really interesting how it works.  The 'keyboard' is only 2 buttons - and when flipped around, a transparent keyboard displays on the screen.  Interesting concept - even more interesting to try and type on the thing....

Really like the larger vid size guys...
I was hoping to find out about the tactile feedback on the noahpad keypads which their literature seems to indicate.
Any chance you guys will be back over in that area again?

It was interesting the way he used the keyboard mode almost as a thumbpad keyboard in hand held position.
They seem a little large for that though.
I wonder how they are for typing in desktop mode.
And of course.. the potential tactile feedback.

Sorry Mike... We are gone for the trip so we can't go back there. I don't remember anything about tactile feedback.

Ahh... well. That's OK. Must have been a long trip for you guys.
In regard to the tactile feedback, I was referring to their literature as it appears on their site:

http://www.noahpad.com/

Specifically this line on that page... "When typing, it not only provides users enough room for each finger but also mimics the feeling of pressing down the keys on regular keyboards."
I think I would miss the actual screen being touch or pen enabled though. I don't think this unit does either of those tricks.

thanks...
