CNN's Multi-Touch Election Coverage

- Warner Crocker

Yesterday was Super Tuesday here in the US where quite a few states had primaries or caucases to determine the Republican and Democratic candidates for president in a wacky election year. Of course the news coverage was wall to wall all night, a real political junkie’s delight.

But if you’re a multi-touch fan, then I hope you caught some of the CNN coverage. John King was using a multi-touch monitor to zoom in and out of electoral maps all night long. The inventors behind the large screen call it the Multi-Touch Collaboration Wall. Any wonder Microsoft is trying to ramp up their Surface Computing timetable?

They've been using this all election season. The surprising thing to me is that none of these maps made it onto CNN.com. I have to use NYTimes to see a non-textual county breakdown.
