OK, we can’t count. Or I should say Matt can’t count. This is GBM Podcast #53 but we kept referring to it as number 52 in the show. So, if you get confused, blame Matt. After all the younger guys are supposed to keep up with this kinda thing, sparing us old geezers with ancient brain cells a little work.
Regardless of our lack of counting ability, we cover a lot of territory in GBM Podcast #53, including some interesting info on how Matt’s GIS work has come into play with the recent flooding in the Midwest. We also talk about Fujitsu’s new T5010 Tablet PC, HTC’s shifting plans and Origami Experience 2.0 among other topics. Give it a listen.

We’ve passed through spring and now it looks like we’re into a quite a summer on many fronts including some severe weather. By the way, before we move forward here, all of us at GBM send out our thoughts and prayers to those affected by the flooding in the Midwest and rough weather everywhere.
As we all hope for a break from the extreme weather conditions, we know the temperatures will continue to rise as summer progresses. If you find yourself sitting in some air conditioned comfort to avoid the heat looking for something to view or listen to, you might want to look back on last month's GBM InkShow, podcasts, and Shortcuts. We had quite a collection of content for you to enjoy.
And as a special viewing treat, make sure you check out Truc Bui’s Screen Protector Shootout series featuring a number of videos on various screen protectors from Photodon, BoxWave, NuShield, WriteShield, and ProtecT. Truc has more to come this month so keep your eyes peeled for that.
So, here’s the lineup in case you missed any of May’s action, and stay tuned for more coming up soon.

April is now behind us, but at least where I live we still seem to be getting quite a few April showers still. No matter, April whether wet or dry was a high water mark for GBM InkShow and Shortcut action.
April was also the month in which we welcomed the continued sponsorhsip of our InkShows and podcasts by TechSmith, makers of Snag-It and Camtasia Studio. We’re thrilled that they recognize the value we try to offer and have continued their sponsorship.
We covered some interesting hardware and software in April including the HP 2133 Mini-Note, The Dell Latitude XT Tablet PC, the HP tx2051, as well as Inking on various Tablet PCs, including the Fujitsu P1620 and the Motion F5. We also featured a great chat with the InkSeine Team at Microsoft Labs.
So, here’s the lineup in case you missed any of April’s action, and stay tuned for more coming up soon.

Spring is springing and lately so is our InkShow, Shortcut, and Podcast action (although we’ve been remiss in publishing podcasts recently.) We missed the February Roundup due to some crazy scheduling challenges as the GBM Team has all been pulled in a myriad of directions, so this month’s roundup will backtrack a bit and list February’s as well.
We covered some interesting hardware and software in February and March ranging from the Toshiba M700 Tablet PC to the Motion F5 Slate Tablet PC. Sierra’s InkShows on the iLiad eBook Reader also attracted quite a bit of attention. And lo, and behold, there were actually a couple of InkShows on exciting Tablet PC software (more and more a rarity these days) including PDF Annotator and the new EverNote.
So, hit the READ MORE link for the lineup in case you missed any of the action, and rest assured, things are starting to line up for all of our schedules and we’ll have more coming your way soon.

In this podcast, I spend some time talking with three members of Microsoft's original Tablet PC team: Josh Clow, Jay Pittman, and Patrick Haluptzok. Specificially, we talk about the areas of their expertise: the TIP and handwriting recognition. I think you'll enjoy hearing about the beginnings of the TIP and where the original design came from, what happened to Write Anywhere, handwriting recognition and training, and how Josh felt just a couple of weeks ago when Bill Gates gave him some suggested TIP UI improvements. This podcast was recorded over a telephone in a hospital room, so the voice quality is not quite as good as our other podcasts, but the conversation and information makes up for it!

CES 2008 has come and gone, the Super Bowl will be over tonight, and now attention turns to what comes next. So, what are you going to watch after the football season comes to a close? How about some GBM InkShow? While some are predicting a lull in mobile tech news for awhile, there is still plenty of GBM InkShow, Shortcut, and Podcast action to keep you going during the winter months.
In addition to checking out the Inkshows, Shortcuts, and Podcasts, make sure you check out the videos we recorded at CES 2008. There’s lots of great stuff there, some wacky stuff, and plenty to enjoy.

We're back from CES 2008, and it looks like Warner was the only GBM Team member who didn't come down with some kind of illness. Nevertheless, Sierra and Warner spend some time in GBM Podcast #44 covering their experiences and thoughts from the Big Show in Las Vegas. We talk about a wide range of things including Toshiba and HP's new Tablet PCs, (we both walked away liking each of them, but we each prefer a different one), UMPCs, and of course the launch of the Mobile Internet Device (MID). We also talk about some of the crazy times and the parties we attended including the Tablet PC/UMPC Meetup and our experiences at the BlogHaus. It's a long podcast, weighing in at 53 minutes and change, but there was a lot we got a chance to see and cover. If you've not gotten your fill of CES 2008 GottaBeMobile style, you might want to check out these links to all of our coverage. Also make sure you check out our CES video coverage, sponsored by OQO. We're up to 22 and still counting from CES. If you haven't yet, make sure you check out the InkShow where Rob, Warner, and Matt try to destroy the MobileDemand T8700 Tablet PC. Three boys, a casino, and a Tablet PC can cause a lot of trouble. We had fun. We hope you had some fun enjoying the coverage. All GBM InkShows and Podcasts are sponsored by TechSmith.

In Podcast #43, Sierra and I chat about InkSeine, TabletKiosk's eo / Menlow announcement, what Menlow is, Sierra's upcoming cruise and what she's taking, the often-talked about Apple Ultra-Portable, and Macworld. That's right - I can't stand all this buzz any longer, and I'm going to attend my first Macworld conference in January. If anything is announced that will be of interest to GBM readers, we'll be bringing you the coverage. Here are the show notes:

Better late than never. That can be said for Dell finally entering the market this week, and the fact that this podcast is a couple of days late! In Podcast #42, Warner and I sit down to chat about Toshiba's M700 Tablet PC, Dell's Latitude XT Tablet PC, the impact that Marc Orchant has had on our lives and work, and also say congratulations to Mickey Segal, our November Forum Member of the Month. Here are the show notes:

It’s podcast time again at GBM, and in GBM Podcast #41, Warner Crocker and Sierra Modro cover a range of topics and products in the Tablet PC and UMPC scapes. In addition, they discuss what’s on their respective Christmas gadget wish lists and get the conversation going about CES2008 and the Tablet PC and UMPC Community Meetup and talk a bit about Warner’s 3rd Annual Life on the Wicked Stage Ink Blot Awards. Of course the trick to this edition of the GBM Podcast is finding out if Warner’s voice will hold out since he’s been suffering from laryngitis. We’re also proud and thrilled to announce that TechSmith is back as our GBM Podcast sponsor. As you probably know, (we certainly don’t keep this a secret), TechSmith has been our GBM InkShow Sponsor for some time now. TechSmith produces SnagIt and Camtasia Studio and other great products that all of the GBM Team members use routinely in their work and play. TechSmith’s original sponsorship covered both the video InkShows and our podcasts, then for a time, it was just the video InkShows. And once again, TechSmith is sponsoring both GBM InkShows and GBM Podcasts. We’re grateful and we hope you are to. Without sponsors, like TechSmith, we wouldn’t be able to do the fun work we do here at GottaBeMobile.com. Thanks, again, TechSmith! Here are the show notes:

Winter is fast approaching and a great way to prepare for the cold days ahead is to store up some GottaBeMobile.com InkShows, Shortcuts, an Podcasts for those cold and snowy days when you just want to sit bundled up by a warm fire. November was a month full of GBM video and audio action, so you’re got lots to choose from. We covered the gamut from CradlePoint Technology’s Celluar Router to a show down on the OQO Model 02 between an SSD drive and a Hard Drive. We took a look at the Vye S37, and Warner’s wife got into the action with a look at the Asus Eee PC. The Podcasts kept coming even if the “Old Man” of the team kept complaining, and Rob took some good looks at the Amazon Kindle in GBM Shortcuts. So check out the November lineup and let us know your comments.

Sometimes things can get down right spooky in the Tabletscape and Matt Faulkner and I spend this week’s GBM Podcast (that’s GBM Podcast #38 for those who are counting) talking about a number of developments, as well as a few tricks and a few treats. So, while you may be waiting to dish out your Halloween treats to your local ghosts and goblins, give GBM Podcast #38 a listen.
Are you waiting about news from Dell? Well, if you’re a Purdue student or educator maybe you got to take a sneak peak. Wonder what is going on in UMPC land? Chippy seems to be covering all the news on UMPC TV (and creating a fashion faux pas as well.) Well Asus’s R2E UMPC be a hit? Is Apple going to finally produce a Tablet PC? Who knows, but we sure love to speculate, especially with all the news that’s fit to touch bouncing around these days. We even talk a little football, just for fun.
