The GottaBeMobile.com / Tom Bihn Buzz Bag Contest

- Rob Bushway

As I indicated last week during my video review of the Tom Bihn Buzz Bag, GottaBeMobile.com and TomBihn.com are partnering together to give one lucky GBM reader their own Buzz Bag, valued at $120.

What's involved? Post an entry to this article telling us what all you put in to your current mobile bag and why the Buzz Bag might be a good mobile bag for you. This contest is open to U.S. and International residents. One entry person. The contest is open through Sunday, August 12th at 11:59 Mountain Time.

The folks at TomBihn.com and Team GBM will look at all the entries and pick a winner, then we'll make an announcement by Friday, August 17th.

Best of luck to everyone!

This bag would be a great way for me to travel with my tablet and supplies with out lugging my current briefcase type bag. It seems to be an idle bag for carrying study supplies and other material to school and back when a bigger bag is not necessary. When not in school that bag seems ideal to take on day hikes when I want to go out and relax with my tablet in the mountains.

The items that I put into my current mobile bag are:
* My new X61 Tablet
-its ac adapter with apc serge protector
* cellphone
* headphones
* MP3 player
* Some snacks to eat while studying, or a small lunch
* Water bottle
* Pen/Pencils
Items I do carry but only during school time or longer travels.
* Lacie Slim DVD burner
-blank DVD media, and some blank mini cd-r's.
* A textbook/book or two
* A notebook/binder in case I need paper
* HP calculator

I hope that is what you wanted for a post.

I currently have two computers: A Macbook Pro (15'') , and a Fujitsu P1610. I have been struggling to find a solution to carry these two wonderful machines. I haven't been able to find one I really like yet, until I saw Rob's inkshow.

What currently goes in my Eastpak backpack when I go out of the house is my p1610 or Macbook, depending on what I will be doing, along with their power adapters. Other computer related "essentials" that go in my bag are a portable usb harddrive, a dvd drive for the p1610, a mini usb to usb cable, sd card reader, and some spare memory cards for my phone and camera. And all this is with the exception of the memory cards is dumped at the bottom of the single compartment. The cards live with my id and camera in the small front pocket. Soon added to that will also be a textbook or two, and some notebooks (as few as I can - trying to go paperless).

I usually sling it over one shoulder which makes carrying it somewhat uncomfortable, considering how heavy it sometimes gets. The Buzz bag would allow me to have a much more comfortable way to carry my gear. I would also feel much safer about either of my computers as they would be well protected with all the padding, and buying a couple of organizer pouches would be a solution to my cable mess. Finally, the obvious point would be that hands down the Buzz bag is more stylish then my battered up navy-blue backpack.

I recently went on a trip to Denver, and packed all my tech stuff into a fairly generic Notebook travel bag, see a picture off all the stuff I had in it here - http://i17.tinypic.com/6gv2r9z.jpg . The problem is that its a travel bag, not an every day carry around sort of thing. I think the buzz bag would be good for me because it looks comfy and easy to carry around.

To me mobile computing means lightweght but gven diffrerent projects I do not need all the equipment I have. But if the bag were adqueate then perhaps I would. I do carry
* X60 Tablet and 65 watt power amp (leave 90 watt at home)
* Small microphone with cord to use in lectures
* USB camera for the purpose of recordng interviws, etc.
* A copy of USB flash memory dongles
* My cross tablet Pen
* Cell phone and its charger
* a few regular pens, business cards
* My hard copies and notepad (just in case)
* One or two blank CD/DVD RW
* When ne3eded I carry the X6 expansion base (rarely)
* When making PowerPont presentation I carry small set of USB powered speakers
* I always carry my Pocket PC with my computer and bring a USB charger cord for it
* Extra battery for my Pocket PC
* Splenda substute in packets (never find it in restaurants when I need it)
* My current novel or work related book
* small flashlght
* I do not have room for a waterbottle

I'd love to have Bihn bag because I can never carry even half this stuff in the small briefbag I currently use. I do a lot of day flghts to our head offce and therefore having everythng fit in one bag with good padding for the Tablet would be great!

My sexy new x61t
extra battery for x61t ( I have eight hours of lecture in two four hour chunks)
My small but sutrdy P 1610 (soon to be phased out)
My external sony mic
My cords, adapters and various flash drives.
My sony slimdrive dvd burner
My samsung blackjack
My Ipod with headphones
Scrubs (you never know what you'll get on them)
A folder for papers I need to scan

I am currently using an ogio backpack. It's far too big for the equipment I currently have. It was more of a transition bag while going to a paperless format and while I was still using real textbooks as opposed to digital. I am ditching the p 1610 in a couple weeks because I am transitioning out of it and into the x61t (still finishing the summer semester).
I am a nursing student at Nevada State College. I work at two local hospitals (EKG tech and ICU/ER tech) in addition to being a full time student. I have fell victim to the bag fetish niche that everyone else seems to be afflicted with. Even though I have three different bags (and two sleeves), none of them seem appropriate for what I am doing and how mobile I need to be. They all seem to be too big or too small.....
If I won the Tom Bihn Buzz bag it would allow me to safetly transition from the hospital environment to school in a neat and organized manner. In addition to that I would have one centralized bag that solved my dilema of high speed low drag... Right now I have a sleeve for the laptop, inside a calvin klein shoulder bag (hospital use). Then for school I have the Ogio with just the laptop in the compartment and the rest in the main area. I feel like a turtle with an oversized shell.

4 PSP games/movies
Bose headphones

Personal paraphanalia

I currently have a Targus Backpack, and a target bag. One is too big, and the other too small. The Buzz Bag looks juuuuuussssssssttttttttt right.

If I am lucky enough to be selected this bad boy will live a life of mobile enthusiast and medical professional. What I love about the bag is how low key it is. I am a medical student in NYC and the LAST thing that I want to be is a walking advertisement for the gadgets in my bag. It is for this reason that I really hate traveling with a traditional laptop bag...you are a walking target.

This bag will be perfect to store my Lenovo x41T, power adapter, external dual layer DVD burner, headphones, PDA, cell phone charger, and the various pieces of medical diagnostic equipment that I have to carry for certain rotations.

It is extremely hard to find a bag designed to carry a laptop and accessories that is not screaming "I am carrying expensive stuff." Hidden beneath a normal exterior, from what Rob has shown us, is a really well thought out packing arsenal that I will be sure to put through the ringer of my daily life as mobile enthusiast and medical student.

Ok, as is I don't normally carry a bag (I have one that I use only when I need it). However, 1) I find I have too much stuff jammed in my pockets and 2) I'm in the market for both a laptop and a Palm Foleo. (The laptop's going to be more of a desktop replacement model, hence the reason to get the Foleo too.) In particular I'll need a bag to carry the Foleo in. Add in 2 phones (w/ spare batteries), several memory cards, business cards, green laser pointer (at least when I'm doing presentations) headset and headphones... And while getting Bluetooth stereo headphones may mean I don't need a separate headset all the time, I may have to take along a charging cord for them, at least on some longer trips...

I have a very small gadget bag, perhaps too small. It's some sort of over-the-shoulder slingbag. I can't even fit my dinosaur of a laptop inside of it, but I hope that the Kohjinsha I'm getting later this year will. What I do carry in my bag when I do have it are:

My PSP (Even if not for the games, it's still a great PMP despite the lack of acceptable formats)
Various Albums (which go with...)
My CD Player (Even as archaic as this tech is, it has served me well and will continue to, I hope.)
Die Hard DVD (Because it wouldn't be a good night if I couldn't watch it.)
Loose moneys (read: pennies)
Miniature sewing kit
Grooming kit
No phone, oddly enough for a kid my age.

And as for my laptop, it is a Dell Inspiron 7500. Yeah. Old. It and the power brick takes up the entirety of my poor Targus messenger bag.

I lug all this crap around, but it's all worth it in the end.

Tuesday, August 07, 2007 12:45:04 AM (Mountain Daylight Time, UTC-06:00)
Whoops, got cut off there.

I hope that the Buzz Bag be both vast and not appear so on the outside. It's a very sleek thing that I could only hope to have. The thing looks really amazing. What I have now is something like it and I use the word "like" very loosely because it looks absolutely nothing like the Buzz Bag. When I ordered the thing, it came with holes in it. The fabric separating the two internal pouches is ripped, causing the small things and the large things to run together. Looking for needle and thread to replace a lost button amonst batteries and pennies on top of digging through books and electronics is not a very good time, as I'm sure most of y'all know.

I like the Buzz Bag because I have so many small things that I need the pocket space and the separation with not a whole lot of space to start with. I think it's really neat.
Tuesday, August 07, 2007 5:47:00 AM (Mountain Daylight Time, UTC-06:00)
My current laptop bag is an old, old hand-me-down that my father used for years. It's a two-section soft-sided briefcase; one side has a built-in laptop sleeve that snuggly fits my (again, hand-me-down) Inspiron 600m and my 6x8 Graphire Wacom tablet, while the power brick, mice, usb hub, a two-inch-thick php reference manual and my breakfast go into the remaining area. The other side holds my paper notebooks, sketchbook, and various other papers that I need to carry around with me. The front has two nice-sized zipper pockets. One fits my mini legal notepads perfectly, and the other seems to have been made specifically for my psp.

While it's not a bad briefcase, this thing is big, heavy, and old. I half expect the shoulder strap clips to give out at any time. The Buzz Bag would give me that assurance that my equipment is safe and secure, as well as giving me an easier way to carry my things around.

Hi, I am a 38 year old mature student (and sinle mum) from the UK and am about to start my second year on an Applied Microbiology degree.I have recently purchased a tablet pc specifically for taking notes at university and have yet to buy a mobile bag as I simply can not afford to spend the extra cash at the moment.

After watching Rob's great inshow review on the Buzz Bag I feel that it would be the perfect way to transport my tablet and other accessories to and fron uni. I have viewed several mobile bags online and have come to the conclusion that Tom Bihn products are of a superior quality to many other brands out there.

The Buzz bag would certainly hold the essentials needed in my daily university life ; tablet pc, notebook, pens, powercord. mobile phone, usb flash drive, i-pod and still have room for anything else I might need.

I would certainly appreciate it if chosen and I wouldn't have to spend extra cash on an inferior bag.

I am a very satisfied Buzz Bag user (based on your recommendations). I put my X61 tablet, my ipod, a zone bar, and my current book in the bag and I am ready to go.

I don't really need another bag; how about a splotch :-).

Well, let's see. I currently carry my R2H and my TC4200 along with my Monster Power 4 port plug, Shure e3c headphones and a couple USB cables, and power cables for each PC. I also carry a 20ft network cable just in case. All this gets packed into my rolling Wenger bag that is about 4 years old and waaaay to big. I am currently looking for a new bag, as well as a new Tablet. I am in the process of convincing the wife to let me get the X61. :)

As a student, commuting to campus for the day can mean bringing a lot of things with you. Currently, I carry: Lenovo X41 Tablet, Motion LE1600 pen, extra 8 cell, power adapter, network cable, USB gps(very handy), usb LED snakelight, flashlight, keys, cellphone, voice recorder, mp3 player w/ headphones...whew! Oh plus all the school related stuff like textbooks, clipboard w/ paper, pens and so on.

Needless to say, my back needs a break! So why don't I just empty out what I dont need when Im not on campus all day you ask? Well, inevitably, something disappears. Its just my luck.

So I've been searching for a small bag that I can carry on those days when I dont need to carry everything and the kitchen sink. I just wanted something small, but with excellent protection for my tablet.

Well, after seeing the Inkshow, the Buzz Bag seems perfect for my needs. I can carry the essentials such as my tablet and the extra battery, cell phone, mp3 player and my Motion pen easily. And with the storage bag, I can even forgo my wallet and bring just my ID, a small bit of cash and my bank card. And there is even room for a small umbrella for rainy days!

I also think the strap is great, I can wear the bag like a slingbag or over one shoulder; perfect for dealing with a crowded subway.

All in all, its a great bag I'd love to have.

Firstly, I don't have a bag that I carry around with me yet. Instead I have been using my scottevest tactical 4.0. However while this jacket has an amazing 40 pockets, it still doesn't not hold my x60 tablet, my DSLR camera (instead I carry the Cannon PowerShot A710IS), my tools (would LOVE to carry around more repair tools as I spend a lot of my time doing free computer work for friends/family and all other individuals who are generous in this community), my school books, as well as my flux capacitor that I would love to keep handy (not really LOL). Other things my jacket holds that I would move to the bag include my bluetooth gps (for my phone and laptop), my solar panels, my usb battery recharger, my HAM radio, web cam etc.

I Love technology and could really use a place to keep it all. *crosses fingers* I really hope I win lol.

Current bag is a logoed work messenger bag (so far this is my third one so you can tell they don't hold up that well). I have my dependable tc1100, a power inverter, an ac adapter, my cell, my cell adapter, my insulin case (I'm diabetic), headphones, and some work related documents. Would love to have a dependable bag to go with my dependable tablet! Patrick if you suceed in convincing your wife PLEASE share the story of how you did so. I have struck out even trying to add a $1 to my tech stash!

"Mobility" is the name of the game, particularly for a family doc on the go. Between the office, rounds at the hospital, nursing home visits, and house calls, my poor old shoulder bag sees a lot of mileage. What better way to free up these "healing hands" than a spiffy new Buzz Bag from Tom Bihn!

Current payload:

Fujitsu P1610 tablet (in Tom Bihn Brain Cell)
stethoscope
BP cuff
diagnostic kit (otoscope/ophthalmoscope)
Motorola bluetooth stereo headphones
pager
prescription pads
pens, USB memory drive
misc. cables

My fellow physicians will be green with envy if they see me toting said Buzz Bag...perhaps matching the lovely hue of Rob's demo.

I think the most important reason is the fact that i don't have a bag for my Asus R2H. And since I have to use a second computer (HP Pavillion 2335), and carry the two of them to everywhere, it's quite difficult.

The buzz bag will be perfect. I can also put in there my cell phone O2 Atom (AKA: HTC TyNT), a Creative Nomad MP3 Player, an HTC hands free, a philips headphones, a UTP Cable, a Phone Cable, a external 120 Gb harddrive, a 2 Gb Sandisk Cruzer Micro,

Finally the also useful notepad a a couple of pens. ;)

Cheers, and I hope to win this time :) pleaseeeeeee

At the moment I have a bag with one very big compartment and in it:
OQO Model 02,
Portable keyboard,
Portable mouse,
The OQO 02 electricity cables,
small stand for the OQO,
OQO VGA extension,
Sony PSP,
Headphones,
Nokia N73,
USB memory stick,
A few pens,
House keys,
Office keys,
Small notebook with all the notes I used to take before I got the OQO,
Portable screwdriver pack,
Small Leatherman multi-purpose tool,
Zipo lighter (and no I don't smoke but you never know when you need a lighter),
Small Makeup bag,
perfume,
Hand cream,
and that's about it.
finding anything in it takes a long time (It got to the point that i have a small flashlight on my key chain to light in to my bag so I can find stuff in it)
so a bad that would help me be more organized would be a great help.
Friday, August 10, 2007 4:38:11 PM (Mountain Daylight Time, UTC-06:00)
Well, let me first say that yesterday, the 9th, was my birthday. A nice buzz bag or even a Splotch would be a much appreciated gift.

I am a university instructor, so my mobile needs are mainly classroom related. I can see how this bag could just right for my laptop (R2H or TC1100), my textbook, microphone, some overhead transparency pens, pencils, calculator, jump drives, laser pointer, the occasional video camera, and other classroom related devices could fit nicely into this bag. I could carry it to class or to the house. It could be a great advertising opportunity. I think teachers should have endorsers, like coaches. :)

Thank you for offering a bag like this to us folks who follow GBM. Whether I win or not, it is nice to see that companies value this site and the readers. Keep Rob and the gang outfitted so we know what is out there.

I won a Splotch, so I'm trying my luck at a bag!

When school is in, I will carry:
-My new x61
-x61 UltraBase (never know when you might need it, and it doesn't add too much weight)
-x61 power cord
-A blank CD and/or DVD
-At LEAST two 1-GB flash drives
-At LEAST two pens and two pencils
-One notebook (darn pop-quizzes ruining my paperless-ness...)
-Small scissors, tape dispenser, stapler, staple remover, and paper clips
-Kleenex, compact mirror, small lotion, Band-Aids, chapstick, pill case, nail file, gum, mints, eye drops, Brush-Ups (like a toothbrush on your finger! They're great), Shout wipes (I'm a girl, okay?!)
-Italian books
-Winnie the Pooh translated into Latin (for studying...and laughs)
-iPhone
-iPhone headphones
-ScanTrons and Blue Books (someone ALWAYS forgets to buy their own, so I carry back-ups)
-my wallet
-my keys
-a small bag of snacks
-water bottle

Now, I carry a rather nice bag. Unfortunately, I bought it BEFORE I had a tablet (yes, there was a time BEFORE tablets in my life, although I don't like to think about it), and it only has about three pockets: two external, and one internal (not including the main "pocket," where the actual computer and base goes). Unfortunately, one of the external pockets is made specifically for a cell phone, limiting my actual USABLE pockets to one external and one internal. Of course, all my "personal items" need to be in the internal pocket, leaving only the remaining external pocket. So, that's where everything goes, in terms of cords and accessories and the like. I'm sure you can see the problem here: my snacks are jumbled with my cords and keys and my wallet and EVERYTHING else! This makes for lots of time-wasting rummage sprees, and time-wasting is something I tried to eliminate by getting the tablet!
As pretty as my bag may be, it just isn't doing its job anymore. I think it's time for a bag more suited to my lifestyle: productive, organized, yet FUN!
Thanks, guys!

I have a kensington compact duo case that I got for 20 bucks. It's almost two years old and although it's light and small, I cannot fit anything else but the x61t, a pair of glasses, and sometimes either/both the ac adapter and/or an optical mouse (the bag bulges out a bit if I try to put all of them in).

The worst thing is, this bag is hardly waterproof :(
I did not know this at the time and have been extremely careful with my previous laptop.

I have just started my grad school and contrary to my hopes and dreams, I do need to carry some books and hand-outs, as not all of them are digitalized.

Clearly, I need a new bag :D

- At the moment, I do not have a dedicated laptop bag, in fact, I don't have any sort of laptop bag. I am a newbie in the tablet computing scene. I spent my freshman year of college carrying folders stuffed with notes and I am hoping a tablet pc will change all of that. So far, during the summer, I've been using a one pocket, puny Banana Republic sling bag. It's so weak that the zipper broke. It also barely holds my tablet (requires some jiggling and wiggling). There's absolutely no room for anything else.

What I will be carrying for college:
- A modified LS800 which includes a modified internal battery built for 9 hours, built in usb hub, exhaust fan, a secondary (external) 20 gb 1.8" hd all enclosed by a custom plastic case.
- Maybe the power brick for the tablet if 9 hours is not enough. (It's not that big.)
- Or perhaps an external laptop power supply. (I planned to increase the internal battery runtime to even 12 hours but currently do not have the money to do so.)
- some not-fancy Samsung slide cell phone.
- Video Ipod for music (when not using the tablet for my music needs)
- Nintendo DS lite
- a bunch of AA nimh batteries (my ipod uses AA batteries for external power and I opted to power the usb hub and exhaust fan for my tablet with separate batteries; it actually prolongs the runtime of the tablet by a lot)
- Motorola Stereo Bluetooth headset for cellphone and tablet
- College ID, mula, and other things that would typically go into my pocket (finally no bulgy pants pockets)
- Water bottle or thermos for hot/cool liquids depending on the season
- A graphing calc (although I'm hoping xThink's software can replace the need for a physical calculator)
- Portable slim dvd burner w/ one or two blank media.
- Sketch book and pens (sometimes even a tablet can't replace an artist's/engineer's sketchbook.)
- No physical books for English class, Ebooks all the way =]. (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was very readable on my tablet.)
- And definitely food-stuffs for when I need to be in college from morning 'til night.
- And maybe a Docupen scanner for whenever I go on data gathering at the library.

My current gear bag is not really a gear bag it's a cooler! Right now I’m trying to use a California Innovations Golf Cooler that was given to me a few years ago to carry my Mobile gear although it works this one just isn’t right for my R2HV and accessories. It’s not to stylish in public. Once my R2H woke up on it's own while in the cooler it made for a nice hot ham & cheese sandwich but not to good on the Hersey bar. It's hard to explain what I'm using so I posted some pics on Google http://picasaweb.google.com/MLH1962/GBMBuzzBagContest/photo#s5097453251536461218

Here's what I carry now:

R2HV
Foldable usb keyboard
Mouse
Spare battery
Zune
Cell phone
Cables
pens
Reading Glasses

Why would the Buzz Bag be good for me? I could pack the above list with more style and organization. I could include my Battery Geek for more power on the road, ac adapter, for those extended trips, also pack my laptop (although my R2Hv has become my main device), camera, and some printed docs for some online classes I'm taking. And maybe snacks and a bottle of that green tea (spiked or not) you talked about on the podcast.

My mobile bag (a large messenger bag from STM) contains:

* Laptop (old, heavy Compaq)
* Power supply (heavy), converter plugs (US to AU)
* USB travel mouse
* USB wireless LAN adaptor (old laptop, remember)
* iPod, USB connector, earphones
* Mobile phone headset, charger, USB connector
* Flash drive
* Light rain jacket, umbrella, sunglasses, cap
* Bottle of Diet Pepsi
* Business card holder
* Writing pad (for taking notes in class)
* Pens, marker (writes on CDs)
* Mechanical pencil, eraser, lead
* Scientific calculator
* Small screwdriver (for eyeglasses)
* Keys, torch (pen-sized maglite)
* Current book I'm reading
* Lunch

I'm stuck with my mother's old laptop because mine died (post warranty motherboard problem) and I can't afford a tablet PC or even a cheap, regular laptop right now. Ah, the joys of being an international student at the graduate level. I also need to carry all-weather gear because you never know what the weather will be like here in Melbourne, Australia and I travel everywhere on foot and by tram.

I need a new bag because my current laptop is much heavier than my old one so I need something sturdier and easier to carry it in. These days, my bag gets so heavy that on most days I leave my laptop in my secure locker at the university overnight. The Buzz's shoulder strap design will handle the extra weight and will also go easy on my shoulder. In other words, the Buzz bag will actually let me be mobile again!

This bag would allow me to finally replace my aging targus bag that I've had for some years now. Judging my the design, this would allow me to carry some books for school and my laptop, and still be able to ride a bike, which the targus bag just isn't designed for. I'm also hoping this will be better on my back than the targus bag, since it tends to put all the weight on one shoulder and in itself weighs a few pounds adding to to total weight I have to carry.

I would be carrying my x61 tablet, which finally arrived after two months of waiting and actually came with the screen seperation issue many folks are seeing...arg.
a spare 8cell battery
my igo power adapter, also several years old now
whatever school books I can fit in
misc school items, pen, paper, calculators, etc, for those teachers that insist we have old technology on hand
my t-mo dash
if there's room, a portable usb dvd drive and some media.

And if it helps, this would make a great birthday present, sa today is my birthday!!

I ordered with my OQO 02 the Field Pack bundle which comes with a nifty mesh cable bag with enough room for all my accessories except my DVD-R docking station which folds flat close to 2 DVD cases stacked together. I typically keep in my OQO mesh bag(10"x3"x2"), which are all OQO products:
- 120 volt adapter if not left plugged in with my DVD-R docking station or ready for charging my 02 or spare battery
- 12 volt power adapter
- battery adapter for charging spare battery without having to hook it up with the 02
- spare battery, either standard that came with the 02 or the double capacity
- VGA/Ethernet adapter
- HDMI-DVI cable

I missed out on several major road trips not having my OQO 02 then but will need more than that when I go mobile. I have the OQO clip case so that is what I use to carry my 02, it has a place for my OQO wacom pen, and the 02's thumb keyboard is sufficient for now so I have not had to lug around a fullsize keyboard & mouse.

I can see using the Buzz Bag as the perfect solution for everyday storage of all my OQO pieces including the documention papers, Recovery CD's, spare parts, extra screen protecters, etc...

I'm glad they included a bottle holster, never know when your mouth gets dry gawking at all those cool new gadgets.

What mekes it nice is the front compartment can handle everything with my OQO 02 including the 02!
- Of course I'll have to find room for my trusty old iPod which I still use for my own sanity (and everyone else's safety).
- room for a magazine or two? When flying, I like to pull out a guitar or chopper magazine, not only for the read but to freak out the nosy neighbors. the more hardcore cover the better.

The spacious back compartment with the separator will work great for when I hit the road and want to take an adequate size LCD screen, BT keyboard, & BT mouse for some heads down typing for writing or coding
- maybe even fit one of those thin Canon portable printers so I can preprint my boarding pass when coming home
- keep a thin school organizer to keep paper in.
- For short trips like attending seminars, shows, product launches I would keep the back compartment empty to put all the important good stuff you get from the vendors such as the flashing balls, abstract pens, portable kite(yes Fujitsu actually gave them away one time), all-in-one toolkit/USB hub/LED flashylite, oh and all that important paper stuff & CD's that I barely have time to go thru before it's obsolete.

Anyway I got the OQO 02 so I would not have to carry a bag everywhere I go. This still holds true for me, but there comes a time when you need the bag. This one looks like a nice fit.

I am and undergraduate student and my mobile bag consists of:

-an x60 tablet
-an extended battery
-a tablet ac adapter
-a few paper folders with various handouts and graded papers
-writing utensils
-a calculator
-an extra tablet pen
-headphones

Due to having a tablet, all my textbooks and notes are digital, drastically reducing the weight and bulk of my mobile bag. However, the backpack that I own is a Swiss Gear SYNERGY backpack, which I acquired before buying my tablet. For those who own it or know it, this backpack is quite large and bulky. As a result, the weight savings of my tablet is completely offset by my SYNERGY backpack.

The shear size of the backpack also makes it very unfashionable. Last year, on my first day of class, I had several people tell me that my backpack was almost as big as me. I even overheard two strangers sarcastically saying that I must be going mountain climbing. While walking to one of my classes, I had to jam myself into a crowded elevator. My backpack prevented the elevator door from closing. I couldn't feel the elevator doors touching my backpack and had to be told that I was the root of the problem. Despite all these comments and troubles, I used the backpack for the entire year (and probably this coming year too) because it was a $63 investment.

The worst experience I had with my backpack happened this summer. After finishing my study abroad program in France, I spent a week by myself in Paris. I carried the Swiss Gear backpack with me everywhere because it had all my essentials, but it was such an eyesore in Paris. Parisians are very fashionable and that includes their backpacks. Wearing the Swiss Gear made me stick out like a sore thumb, which was the last thing any lonely traveler wants.

Having the Tom Bihn Buzz Bag would have definitely solved all of the problems listed above. The Buzz Bag would be an ideal size and fit for all of my contents, making it comfortable and practical. On top of that, it is also stylish, even in Parisian standards.

(Trying this again as my previous entry did not seem to "work")

I'm currently going between 2 bags, as my wife won't let me get another bag, an Eddie Bauer mini-sling and a full sized messenger bag. When I need to bring my work laptop around, or my portable DVD player, I need to move to my messenger bag, which doubles as my work bag. As far as my "normal" load goes, the mini-sling usually holds:
-PSP
-Mini daily planner to hold PDA (Zodiac2)
-keyboard for PDA
-Ipod mini w/remote and headphones
-2 tins of mints
-1 tin of chocolates
-odds and ends (tissue pack, eye drops, lip balm, wooden medicine balls)
-bottle of water in an external mesh pouch
-and anything else my wife stuffs in there while we walk

Now, with a Tom Bihn Buzz bag, I could fit everything I usually need in addition to a portable DVD player or my work laptop. I would love to get a X61t, but I haven't found the correct justification for my wife. (You guys aren't giving one away are you? I'll fill in another entry for a "How a X61t will improve my life" contest. ) An added plus is my wife would stop referring to my mini-sling bag as my "purse" since I'd be carrying a Buzz Bag exclusively. One thing I dislike about my messenger bag is passing through airport security checkpoints. Since I do not have a dedicated compartment for my laptop, I need to fish for my laptop before going through X-ray. With a Buzz Bag, that will no longer be a problem as my laptop would be in it's own place within the main compartment.

Just found this a few minutes ago and figured it was worth a shot. My Timberland backpack is finally giving out from general wear after repeated repairs to reinforce one side because I almost always carry it over one shoulder.

I like to use beautiful, durable things until they fall apart.

I travel mostly by bicycle these days and want a safe and comfortable way of carrying a Macbook. The Buzz is just the right size and shape.

The essentials:
-13.3" Macbook
-power adapter
-small fat notebook
-Palm Treo 700wx
-a Lara Bar
-20/40 glasses to help reduce eyestrain (easy access to the Buzz would be great for swapping these with the full-strength pair)
-The Pocket Zen Reader
-and a geometrical talisman

Thanks for the review!
Anil
