What am I doing tonight?? Clean Install Time!

- Matt Faulkner

Well, it's been a while and lots of beta's and trials...  It's time to give Vista some new life on the x61 Tablet PC...  I am going to be doing a clean install of Vista Ultimate tonight.  One thing I'm going to do - I'll record everything I do so in the future some others might benefit from the experience.  There is already some information in the forums, but I'll post up my process and experience just to add to the mix.  First thing to do is to make sure I have a backup and get off all the important things I need to not loose!

What's after that?? Linux on the x60 :)

Hey Matt.....
Thanks so much for posting your process. I have wanted to do a clean install on my X60 but have been afraid I would miss something and then wish I had just lived with the little things that were bugging me about my current install.

Following your guidelines will take a bit of the worry out of jumping in the re-install pool.

Thanks for your time on this and it will eagerly be appreciated as a "how to" list for me.

On Monday the hard drive in my desktop PC died so I had to re-install Vista onto another one. I used a 4GB USB memory stick with Vista on and it was up and running in half an hour.

This weekend I have to re-install Vista on my OQO 02 for various reasons so I'm hoping it will detect the USB stick and be quick as well.

Matt, nice one. I am looking forward to reading which ThinkVantage programs (if any!) you install :)

Wicked. Sounds like your writeup will be very useful for those of us planning a re-install - I am currently backing up everything from my X61T in preparation!
