Aliph Rolls Out Smaller Jawbone

- Warner Crocker

The New Jawbone_ The Best Bluetooth Headset Just Got BetterEveryone is talking about the new version of the Aliph Jawbone BlueTooth Headset today and in my opinion rightly so. I’ve been using the earlier version for about 9 months now and love it. The noise suppression technology is excellent. The newer version improves on that and also is smaller, so I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the newer version to try it out. You can purchase the new version from Aliph or at AT&T stores for $129.99. A tad on the expensive side, but worth it as far as I’m concerned. Also note that the earlier model is now on a number of sites at vastly marked down prices. Yes, you still have to be willing to wear one of these things on the side of your head, but if that isn’t an issue for you, this is one of the best BlueTooth headsets out there in my opinion. Here’s a link to the press release.

BTW, I did a BlueTooth headset comparison awhile back that included the earlier version of the Jawbone. Check it out here.

Hi Warner,

I purchased one yesterday and I think the speaker was defective. I had a hard time hearing callers and the sound was very tinny, like if you have a paper speaker with a hole in it. I returned it to the AT&T store a today and will try again. If the incoming sound isn't better than the first one I wouldn't recommend this headset. Of course everything else about it is wonderful. Great size, excellent ear loops, outgoing sound is even better on this one than the old one. I am praying I just got a bad one because I really don't want to take this one back. Other great news, they replaced the charging cable with a magnetic version like the MacBook adapter. It is cool. I will post again after trying the second one.

techgeek,

Do report back. I would be terribly surprised if the new version fell back on the audio quality. I am assuming, but do not know, that they new version has the same sort of controls for audio quality that the earlier version did. Although I never understood really why, but there was a button on the headpiece that you pushed if you wanted noise suppression on or off. Why you would want it off is beyond me.
