The Service Manager - Completing the Work Flow for Field Force

- Rob Bushway

Service Manager Tablet PC technology really begins to shine for businesses when it is coupled with software that helps to streamline work flow, which in turn, helps cash flow. That is what Active Ink Software's Service Manager does by automating the process of work orders, communications with service technicians, and invoicing back in the home office. In short, it is a complete end-to-end solution for the field force office by integrating QuickBooks with form data capturing in the field.

The Service Manager incorporates the following features:

· Business form templates.

· Interoperability with QuickBooks® Accounting.

· Connectivity with Microsoft’s Outlook.

· Pen input, handwriting recognition and signature capture.

For more info on the The Service Manager, read the press release below, visit Active Ink's website, and watch the video (WMV). The Service Manager is available for $999.

checkout corrigo.com products, they have been doing all this on mobile devices for the past decade now, and many many additional features. GPS coordination of service techs, dispatching, integration with inventory systems - including the "ones in my truck!", integration with quickbooks and financial systems, invoicing systems, signature capture and making status, tracking and interaction available back to the end customer for immediate and REAL TIME status updates of service work or completion.

I went up to corringo.com and the cost to use the corringo Service Manager costs $850 per month. This one is a one time fee of $1000 plus $129 per technician so it would cost me under $3000 for 15 technicians ( a one time cost ) where with corringo I pay $850 each month or over $10,000 per year ( plus a $595.00 setup fee ).
I have used PDAs to enter data and found it was really hard to capture much data. I like the idea of a Tablet PC better. Even with the cost of Tablet PCs being higher than PDAs it still works out much cheaper and faster in the long run.

What a brillant technology for those who do so many service calls and are constantly doing paperwork and then have to go back to the office and enter it all into a computer again. I'm thrilled to see how low the cost is. Thanks! I will be looking into this for my husband.
