Asus Intros a Rugged Tablet PC and UMPC with Keyboard

- Warner Crocker

AsusonenbAsus may be slow on the Vista driver delivery, but they look to be cranking out new entries in the mobile field. at CeBit they are introducing two new devices.

First up is a ruggedized Tablet PC, codenamed the Rugged Military NB (catchy?) that contains a 13.3 inch widescreen. The rugged device conforms to the IP 54 Standard for sand and water protection.

AsusruggedOn the UMPC front looks like they are adding a keyboard to the Highly Intergration UMPC (I’m not making up the codenames-they are). It has a 7 inch screen, GPS receiver, uses an ExpressCarrd slot and runs a VIA processor. It looks more like a mini-Tablet PC than a UMPC from the pictures on the CNET UK site.
