ContractPC - A New Way of Signing and Securely Managing Documents

- Rob Bushway

ContractPC - Electronic Document Management For businesses looking into Tablet PC technology, one of the focal points is the reduction of paper documents and files. Being able to capture client signatures on a contract without having to print, sign, and scan can result in huge productivity and cost savings. Signature security and document flow management, though, are critical issues that all businesses have to factor in when looking for any kind of electronic document management solution, especially one where the security of the signature is important.

I spent some time last week talking with the folks from ContractPC.com, an electronic document management solution that integrates Tablet PC technology to provide an end-to-end hosted solution for the signing, marking up, and securely managing electronic documents. The industries they are targeting with ContractPC includes real estate, mortgage, legal, banking, insurance, and more.

I'll be getting set up with a trial account in the coming weeks and will be doing an InkShow on how this product works. Meanwhile, check them out and see if it something your business should be looking at.

Two solutions that I have found, for those of us already equipped with a Tablet PC are PDF Annotator, and Bluebeam PDF Revu. I always get nervous when I check on something like this, and there is no price, a salesperson must contact me, and there is no trial of the software. Both of the solutions I mentioned have clear prices as well as free trials. I am not affiliated with either company.

I have a good friend of mine that is in the finance business and he uses the Contract PC solution. He swears by it and when he did a demo for me on the software, it was very exciting, I have never seen a complete solution that is so simple and easy to use. Brandon

Yeah, I'd like to see a software-only version. My firm, and most other law firms, already have huge investments in hardware, OS and office software, and related support contracts, and while this might be interesting as a software product, as a replacement for our existing and relatively new hardware, it would be a MUCH harder sell.
