GBM InkShow: PDF Annotator 2.0

- Rob Bushway

InkShow

When word got out yesterday about the beta release of Grahl Software's PDF Annotator 2.0, I have a feeling Grahl's download servers got worked overtime, and for good reason. It is clear from this new version that Grahl Software listened to their customers.

As promised, I worked up a quick InkShow demonstrating some of the new features of this popular Tablet PC application using the latest beta. For those who markup a lot of PDF documents using a Tablet PC, I think you'll be pretty pleased with version 2 of PDF Annotator.

Cool ink show. Not to be picky, but I noticed the auto-smooth icon was not highlighted when you use a pen. Perhaps it is not enabled, or turns itself off when you switch inputs.

Have a good one,

For auto-smooth, we have decided to make this independend settings for pen and highlighter, just like color and width. We're absolutely aware that this is first a perhaps unexpected behaviour. But we're sure you'll like it when working with auto-smooth, because most of the time you will use the highlighter for, well, highlighting, and will want auto-smooth to be on for that. But you will use the pen for writing most of the time and will not want auto-smooth here. So, having two separate settings will prevent you from having to switch auto-smooth on and off everytime you switch between pen and highlighter. Maybe we're wrong with that assumption of most people making use of these tools, but that was the idea behind it.

Great demo, Rob, and we'll keep working on the issues you had.

And for others, don't forget the excellent free version of PDF Xchange viewer. Annotation is included !

Does the Find command have the same limitation as the previous version, or is the search term highlighted within the page?

@Dave: Find text now highlights its results, yes. See the 7th screenshot on http://www.grahl-software.com/en/pdfannotator/whatsnew.php
