GBM Podcast #35: I Want to Demo a Tablet PC

- Rob Bushway

Get two veteran Tablet PC guys together and you know what happens: they talk about the good 'ole days when folks used to be able to go in to a store and at least demo one or two Tablet PCs. Nowadays, one can be hard-pressed to find a single tablet pc in a retail store.

Join Warner and I as we talk about demoing Tablet PCs, Vista SP1, what we'd like to see innovation wise in future Tablet PCs, mobile security, and Microsoft's Surface technology.

I'm sorry but I have downloaded the podcast and I can not ear Warner speak, just static… I can ear Rob great and understand when Warner speaks but it comes just static noise.
BTW I have tried it more then once and its’ always the same.

So it’s just me or there are other with the same problem?

Best regards and congratulations for your podcasts, it’s an outstanding contribute for the community.

That's very weird (not doubting what you are hearing at all) Rob mixed this one and I downloaded it from iTunes and listened to it and could hear both of us. Anyone else hearing this?

The only thing I can think of is that I mixed with Warner on the right channel and me on the left channel - first time doing it. Could there be something mixed up with your speakers, like your right / left speaker is out?

Hi

Sorry, probably something on my side. Just downloaded it again and now I can ear Warner without a problem.

Really strange, and the unique explanation I can find is that I was getting corrupted files from my downloads.

Even tried just now via 3G (one of the times it was this way), and now the same, perfect.

My apologies and wish you both a great day.

My appologies and wish you both a great day - mine is a relaxing one as it's the 5th October on my country the day we have become a republic!!!

Anyway, bets regards,

Well, it is nice to be heard again. Glad you got it figured out.

I discovered the culprit!

I was hearing it with my Ipaq 6340 pocketpc phone edition - windows mobile 2003 - and a bluetooth audio device.
It happened with both, my nokia bh-206 auricular and the Honda Bluetooth kit in my Honda Civic Hybrid.
Today tried it again in my car and the problem happened again!

It’s the 6340 media player who just plays the left audio channel via Bluetooth! Using the program TPCMP I have in it, and forcing to hear just the right channel, I could now hear Warner and not Rob! Joining both channels (monoaural) and I can hear both without a problem!
This is a 6340 problem as I have just tried the same but playing it with the Asus R2H and it played perfect.

Huff! I hate things without explanation!

Thank you once more.

This is probabaly a bit late, but I haven't gotten around to commenting until now.

I was able to hear both of you, but, as you say, one of you was talking in my right ear, and the other was in my left ear. I like the stereo version better.

I would like to hear/read more about your idea of a mobile OS. From the little I understand, that has been tried with WindowsCE, and WindowsMobile. In my opinion, I want a device that will have the same operating system as a full-blown system. I get frustrated with syncing issues and such going from a PDA to a laptop. The selling point for me is that you have the same function as a "regular" OS. Are you saying something else should be developed?

Maybe you are saying something like a Mobile Vista ?
