Forgive me, Rob, but I looked at both the information above and on the HP website and I see no mention of Wacom or active digitizer. I do see touchscreen optimized for handwriting. Am I missing something?

Do a refresh - I've added in a snip of the data sheet that HP sent me ( bottom of the post ), and highlighted the Wacom part.

I just hate this! I bought a tx1200 a few months ago, and the screenwriting part sucks... I'm very tempted to switch it for this new one...

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe Wacom pens use batteries, rechargeable or otherwise. I do hope it is a Wacom digitizer. Plus a dedicated graphics card? Nice!

I think the whole spec sheet is written by someone who doesn't understand what a tablet is, let alone wacom.

Wonder if anyone at HP has a buzzsaw? Maybe they could make a viral video of a Dell Tablet going under the knife to show them how a decent tablet can be made for less than $2500. . .

The only reason I didn't buy the TX1100 was the lack of a wacom digitizer, can't wait to put my order in on Jan 8th for this one.

I can't tell from the photos, does this unit have the silly golfball style dimpled trackpad like the older units or a regular trackpad?

I really liked the 2710p, but just couldn't force myself to spend that much for it.

Now if they would just offer intel CPU's in this line, I don't know what else they could improve.

There are spec sheets for three of the pre-built models already listed on HP's site.

Sweet! The lack of active digitizer was the only thing I didn't like about the TX1000. If not for that, I probably would have made it my next tablet. Hope they do another refresh of the line in time for my next upgrade.

The TX200 does not use the trackstick like the 2710p does
I'll definitely find out more on the pen issue at CES, but it does seem odd that they would mention battery-less and rechargeable at the same time, when Wacom pens don't require a battery. They do mention the Wacom digitizer, though.

Cool, they are going retro with the 250mb Hard Drives. Hadn't seen one of them since about 1993. <grin> I guess whoever wrote the spec sheet didn't understand computers, let alone Tablet PC's.

The PC Mag review basically panned the use of AMD parts, rather than Intel low voltage parts.

It's a cute observation, but given the considerable doubting through much of the year about the speed (or lack of speed) of the Intel low voltage and ULV parts, it certainly is a legitimate option for a laptop company to offer. Unless I missed something, HP still has the 2710 if one wants the Intel processors and related integrated graphics controllers.

The AMD processors work just fine and are quite fast. The trackpad on the tx2000 is the dimpled kind, I didn't think I'd like it but it does grow on you quickly. Overall this is the fullest featured Tablet PC I've seen with delicate soft touch screen and great inking via the active digitizer. I had a blast playing with the tx2000 and that starting price is pretty reasonable.
