NoahPad in Video

- Sierra Modro

You may remember a short video that Matt and Warner did at CES on the NoahPad UMPC. This highly unusual UMPC has a screen that flips backwards so that you can type on the keys on the underside. (Not great unless you are a very good touch typist!) NoahPad has apparently taken the videos that they did previously and had them redubbed in English so that non-Chinese speakers can understand the marketing pitch. Note that both videos have the same ~ 1 minute intro, then the content changes.

There has been some commentary on the videos over at Engadget - not too many people are there keen on this new idea. What are your thoughts? Would you be willing to try out the concept?

I am not keen on it at all, using it with the flipped-around keyboard is too wacky for me, and I am into wacky modes of user input (I once bought a Twiddler).

They seem to make a big deal out of a virtual screen, but panning around on a XGA or higher resolution virtual screen while only showing 640x480 or 800x480 is a normal Windows feature anyway...

This Noahpad has to be the most horrable designed mobile device I´ve ever seen.

i love the idea of a tiny computer, to me its not about look, it is about versatility and performance. My only concern is about the keyboard/touch pad. Can it start sliding around the screen instead of typing when i am typing too fast? I have to say that i would love to try one of these
