Optimus Tactus Keyboard

- Warner Crocker

Images of this have been floating around for a few days. The Optimus Tactus Keyboard from Art.Lebedev Studio certainly looks intriguing. Apparently, in addition to the flat keys (they aren’t physical keys), the surface can be programmed to show or offer an function or display images. And since it is “a keyboard” that adds an interesting dimension to touch typing I’m guessing.

Isn't the point of typing to not look at the keyboard? I'd see people having issues with no tactile reference to where their fingers are.

All you really need to know is that its an Art Lebedev idea. Massive OLED ides that sound cool, but in all honesty end up being overpriced if they ever make it to production, but generally never do (see everything but Optimus Maximus, and then pricing on Optimus Maximus, and then delays on Optimus Maximus, and then shipping delays on Optimus Maximus, etc).

The keyboard pictured is a concept keyboard, but the one they are supposedly going to sell next year has physical buttons, but the buttons have little displays so they can be re-mapped.
