Skyfire Beta for Windows Mobile

- Matt Faulkner

Skyfire BetaI just received a text message that I am now able to download the Skyfire Beta.

I have it downloaded but am not really going to have much of a chance to play with it much.  Busy tonight and tomorrow morning...  Any GBM readers out there playing with Skyfire on their Windows Mobile Phones?  I would like to hear what you think of the new browser.

Been using it a couple months on the mogul. The latest version is much better, speedy, youtube plays well, other video. I prefer it to the omega beta out there. Iphone is still better though, and will be for a while

I just got it today too. From what I can tell, this browser is quite impressive. Little touches like making the text box apart of the 'status bar' and adjusting that to every software input panel you have is great. As for bugs...well the zoom feature doesn't work when in landscape mode. That's all I've got for now until I can write up an overview or review on it tomorrow.

P.S.: Youtube videos will play right in the browser! (full not mobile)

Been using mine on my Moto Q on verizon for awhile now. It works great and the newest beta now supports multi-line text input. My only complaint is that it seems my battery life is drained much quicker... likely due to more data transfer...

I'm back and I'd like to correct myself on the first comment I made on this very impressive browser. The zoom feature does work in landscape mode but you will need to be able to hit the small-ish zoom icons for it to work. Everything works as advertised so far...even youtube! I'll have an overview up on my blog later today when I get home from school.

I've been using it for a while too. I love how it loads full sites, but I have had problems with authenticating on a few sites using it. I also wish they could speed up the load time. Part of that time may be due to my Tilt, but I think some of it also has to do with how it connects to their servers. When I fire up a browser on my mobile, the point is to look something up quickly, but when using this browser, I have to wait a good half minute just to start it. I also would prefer being able to start the browser on a page of my choosing, but again, I'm sure they have their reasons for setting it up the way they did. I just don't tend to find the little tabs at the top very useful.
