Tablet PC Talk comparison matrix for UMPC’s .. (updated)

- Dennis Rice

-

Chris over at TabletPCTalk.com has a quick comparison chart up of Ultra-Mobile PC's. Funny thing is that there really is not much difference between units -- yet. We'll see once they hit the market which one floats to the top!

Update:
A couple of other sites have come to light as well, that have lots of good listing info on UMPC (and more):

Steve Paine - http://products.carrypad.com
Linda Epstein - http://www.ultramobilepcs.com/Compare.htm

Thanks for the updates folks!

It looks like only one of the 5 models has a VGA port and it is the lightest of the 5. Hopefully it will not be the most expensive.

It would be interesting for someone to connect a UMPC to a projector. I wonder how these non-standard aspect ratios will project and how the higher resolution modes will work with projectors.

The Samsung does not have GPS. This can be seen in the documentation submited to FCC and from a interview with Otto from MS Origami team where he said that in CeBit they used a GPS USB bundle with this device. So far the only one that includes GPS in one of it models is the ASUS.

I'm just re-hashing my own prodcut pages with a new DB and info at the moment and will re-launch in a few days, however, if you're into the 'wider' UMPC scene, my current UMPC product list (Origami, minitablet, mini laptops) is probably worth a look.

Keeping the data up-to-date is going to be a challenge!!

Steve
thats a great comparison list you've got there - the best round up I've seen of ultraportables. Can't wait to see how the market has developed in a year from now when Vista's well and truely launched
