TabletKiosk Gets a Casting Role

- Rob Bushway

What's better than a Tablet PC? A Tablet PC that gets a lot of eye balls!

TabletKiosk's Gail Levy just let us know that their Sahara Tablet PC and eo TuffTab was used quite extensively in CSI New York, making its debut on the show this past Wednesday. Tune in and let's play spot the eo.

Post your spottings in our TK forum!

Last Wednesday night, the eo TufTab made its debut on CSI NY, playing a supporting role for the Sahara which has already been prominently featured on the popular show. That's the good news. The bad news is that the Sahara and eo TufTab were supposed to be used for the entire season, but due to the shutdown from the writer's strike, the show stopped filming four months ago.

It's really cool to see Tablet PCs in media. A month or two ago, Discovery Channel here in Canada aired their Mars movie-documentary about what the journey for the first group of humans traveling to Mars could be like. I was pleasantly surprised to see in that film that the crew only carried mobile computers. And those mobile computers were exclusively Motion Tablet PCs.

No laptops with keyboards were seen at all! And of course, they not only used the tablets to pull up and review ship schematics and what not, but also to read books to pass time, etc.

The other neat thing that I found was that they used different ruggedized tablets when working outside on Mars. This suddenly made so much sense, because, how do you expect to type on a keyboard when you're wearing a space suit? It's much easier to just poke at a touch screen.
