The Tabletscape Is Very Excited by the Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Tablet PC

- Warner Crocker

X60tablet10logoWell, well, well. Not only are we here at GottaBeMobile.com excited about the new Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Tablet PC, but the entire tabletscape is very excited by Lenovo’s new Tablet PC, and deservedly so in my opinion.

Here is a round up of some other reviews and first impressions that I have seen around the web today.

Linda Epstein at Tablet PC2.com has published an excellent first look and promises reviews soon. I’d keep my eyes peeled for that if I were you. (We’ll certainly link to it here.)

TabletPCReviewSpot.com has also published their usual thorough look as well.

PC Magazine as not only published a review but named the X60 their Editor’s Choice.

PCPro has a quick heads up on what’s new with the X60.

CNET scores the X60 as a 7.5 out of 10.

Here’s a link to the official Lenovo press release.

Of course if you haven’t seen them yet, make sure you take a look at GBM’s exclusive video Inkshows.

And of course stayed tuned to GottaBeMobile.com for Dennis Rice’s upcoming video Inkshow of the Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Tablet PC with the multi-touch screen and the ultra-bay media slice. You don’t want to miss that.

Hi!

They call one display 'Multitouch' - is it one of the Touch-Screen-Displays which also can detect two different fingers at the same time?

not yet. I believe the term Multi-Touch refers to the pen and finger.

I was talking with someone at Microsoft who works on touch about this feature and it is definitely something on their radar, although, I wouldn't look for it any time soon.

One thing puzzles me: all reviewers praise the X60, being über fine compared to X41 and other older machines but nobody compares it to what seems to me as being its closest competitor: the Asus R1F. This removes a lot of credibility to all those "reviews" and "editor's choice", at least to my eyes.

I see one big difference between those two machines: price. And it certainly is not the X60's best point.

By the way, I find it irritating that Lenovo claims they have been listening to users and still keep sticking their Function key on the bottom left corner of the keyboard. X60 users, please tell me it is possible to switch the Function and Control keys. This may seem ridiculous for some of you but this really is a showstopper for me!
