UMPCs in the Spotlight at CES Preview

- Warner Crocker

Both Samsung and Asus, two of the original Ultra-Mobile PC makers, are making some new announcements at the CES Preview in New York and early word is leaking out. jkkmobile and Steve “Chippy” Paine picked up on some early info.

Samsung will be unveiling a 1.33GHz ULV Intel Core Solo Pentium CPU in what looks like a refresh of the Q1 Ultra. That would be good news for folks looking for a bit more oomph in their UMPC.

Asus looks like it will be changing the name of the R2E to the R50A for this new look (for Asus) UMPC.
