Acer Iconia Tab A700 Jelly Bean Update Starts Rolling Out

Published

on

On the heels of the Asus Transformer Prime Jelly Bean update roll out, Acer has seemingly begun to roll out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its Iconia Tab A700.

Android Police is reporting that Acer rather quietly started to roll out the Iconia Tab A700 Jelly Bean update today. It’s unclear just how many users are seeing the 332MB update but those who own the device will want to go into the device’s settings to see if the software update is available to pull Over-the-Air.

At this point, Acer remains mum about the update but it’s pretty clear that Jelly Bean is at least rolling out for some owners.

The Iconia Tab A700 Jelly Bean update is rolling out it seems.

And because the company remains silent, there are absolutely no details available at this time. Fortunately, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean itself is very official and we can let owners know what they’ll be getting with that update.

Jelly Bean brings a number of new features and enhancements to features already present in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It will bring a faster, smoother UI, an improved browser, a new Google App drawer, more photography features, browser improvements and more. All in all, it’s a huge upgrade over Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

In our review of the Iconia Tab A700 we found that the device suffered from not only touch screen issues but from performance issues as a whole so hopefully the update addresses those as well.

The UI improvements should probably bode well for both of those issues.

In any event, the update is certainly worth installing given its features and given that it’s free. Again, we’re unsure about how widespread the roll out is but owners of the Iconia Tab A700 will still want to take a look and see if the software has arrived.

Anyone out there seeing the Jelly Bean update?
