Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update Release Picks Up Speed

Published

on

The Android 4.4.3 KitKat update release continues to pick up speed as we march toward the Android L release later this year.

In June, Google pushed out two brand new Android 4.4 KitKat updates, Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat. And while companies like Motorola and Sony opted to push out Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates with Android 4.4.3 KitKat bug fixes on board, HTC chose to push out Android 4.4.3 KitKat updates with Android 4.4.4 KitKat’s security fix on board.

For weeks now, we’ve seen HTC roll out its Android 4.4.3 KitKat update to select variants of the HTC One M8 and the HTC One M7. Leaks and details pointed to a widespread roll out in the month of August and fortunately, HTC’s plans are aligning with everything that we’ve heard.

Today, the HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update started rolling out to the T-Mobile USA version of the device. Last week, HTC tagged August 18th as its release date and right on cue, the T-Mobile HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat is now available. The update is massive, close to 600MB in size, and T-Mobile HTC One M8 users are going to want to remain patient during the download and install process.

Like the previous versions of the HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update, the T-Mobile version comes stocked with bug fixes and enhancements aimed at squashing bugs and improving both the Android and Sense experience on HTC’s current flagship. It’s a crucial update and one that HTC One M8 owners will want to install when prompted.

The T-Mobile HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update isn’t the only update that’s rolling out today. The HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat is also hitting users in Canada across several different carriers. Like the U.S. upgrade, the HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update checks in at more than 500MB and offers fixes and enhancements.

It also appears that the HTC One M7 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update is starting to roll out to owners of the international version of the device. Like the HTC One M8 update, the HTC One M7 (non-Developer Edition) upgrade is well over 500MB in size which means that users will want to set aside ample time to get the upgrade downloaded and installed.

HTC’s One M7 update should follow in the footsteps of the HTC One M8 upgrade and offer Android 4.4.3 KitKat’s bug fixes on top of enhancements for the company’s Sense UI. This will almost certainly be the last major update the HTC One M7 receives before its upgrade to Android L which makes it a software update worth installing, especially for those dealing with Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems.

These updates are just part of broader Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat pushes that should continue throughout the month of August as companies look to upgrade their devices with enhancements and bug fixes before Google pushes out Android L.

Carriers from around the world are poised to push out Motorola and Sony Android 4.4.4 KitKat upgrades in August and they’re also set to roll out HTC’s Android 4.4.3 upgrades to the HTC One M8 and M7. At least one carrier is testing a Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat upgrade but it’s not clear if Samsung plans to push Android 4.4.3 KitKat to more customers.

Android L on Android 4.4.4

With an Android L release just weeks away, companies are scrambling to patch up Android 4.4 KitKat. Google’s Android L release is rumored for Q3 or Q4 though a specific release date is still unknown. Rumors point to a release alongside a new Nexus tablet dubbed Nexus 8 or Nexus 9, a tablet that’s expected to replace the Nexus 7 as the company’s top iPad competitor.

Android L is a much larger update than Android 4.4 KitKat and comes with design tweaks in addition to powerful new features. The update will likely represent the biggest update to Android since the arrival of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. HTC and Motorola both have confirmed Android L updates well in advance though major carriers like Samsung remain mum.
