Apple Investigating Verizon iPad 2 3G Connectivity Issues

Apple has confirmed to Mobilized that it is indeed investigating 3G connectivity issues with Verizon’s version of the iPad 2.

In a statement, the company said:

We are aware that a small number of iPad 2 customers have experienced connectivity issues with the Verizon 3G network and we are investigating it.

Apple’s response comes after reports of iPad 2 owners complaining about issues regaining 3G connectivity after the iPad 2’s 3G is turned off. There are 5 full pages of discussion about the issue over on Apple’s forums with some owners apparently bringing their device to the Apple Store Genius Bar and walking out without any sort of a permanent fix.

There have even been some claims that Apple has offered new iPad 2’s in exchange for devices that are malfunctioning. While this isn’t exactly a huge issue, it would become a nuccience having to reboot the iPad every time 3G got switched off.

Verizon iPad 2 owners shouldn’t have to wait long for a permanent fix though as iOS 4.3.2 is looming on the horizon and there is a chance that Apple will include a fix in the software.

Verizon needs to create the correct drivers to establish connectivity with the iPad.
