Apple iPhone 6 Rumor Suggests Another Big Upgrade

The Apple iPhone 6 rumors suggest a device that will arrive later this year with an improved camera experience to cement the place of the iPhone as one of the most popular cameras on the market.

As interest in the iPhone 6 grows, so does speculation about the new iPhone camera. While most sources and leaks agree the Apple iPhone 6 will arrive with a larger screen, there is still no consensus on the camera Apple will choose for the new iPhone.

The latest iPhone 6 rumor comes from mobile.it168, by way of gforgames, with details of an iPhone 6 camera and a history of delivering accurate iPhone camera related information.

According to the publication, the Apple iPhone 6 will arrive with an improved camera with a 10 Megapixel sensor and an improved f1.8 aperture. Previous iPhone 6 rumors suggest Apple is planning an iPhone 6 camera with an 8MP sensor using larger pixels or that the iPhone 6 will use a 13Mp camera, but this new rumor is worth considering.

Mobile.it168 claims this iPhone 6 news comes from Taiwanese supply chain sources. In 2013, a month and a half before the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c launch, the publication shared a photo of what they claimed was the iPhone 5c camera. This leak revealed the iPhone 5c would use essentially the same camera as the iPhone 5 that Apple removed from the market soon after the iPhone 5c release. This leak proved true, as Apple put a camera in the iPhone 5c that uses an 8MP sensor and a f2.4 aperture.

If this new information is from the same reliable source it could offer a look into the Apple iPhone 6 camera experience. The new 1.8 aperture would allow more light in, which could boost the performance of the new iPhone camera in low light. This report does not mention the size of the pixels on the sensor, which also play a role in image quality and low light performance.

Might Apple offer interchangeable lenses for the iPhone 6?

The report also points to an interchangeable lens for the iPhone 6, which is not out of the question. Apple recently secured a patent for interchangeable lenses and the company sells a third-party Olloclip lens solution in the Apple Store. It remains to be seen if Apple wants to offer a first-party solution that would add an accessory to the camera. Thus far improvements relied on better technology inside the iPhone.

As the 2014 smartphone contenders shape up in rumors, camera specs and photo quality are sure to be at the center of attention for companies and consumers. Low light performance jumped dramatically in 2013, but there is still a long way to go before an iPhone 6 or other new smartphone can deliver stunning low light shots in the hands of the everyday consumer.

Apple iPhone 6 rumors suggest we will see two iPhone 6 models in 2014, both with screens larger than the iPhone 5s. Analysts that expect two models suggest one iPhone 6 with a 4.5-4.8-inch screen and another with a 5-inch or larger screen with some estimates suggesting a 5.5-inch display. We will also likely see a new processor, likely an Apple A8 64-bit model that could help users do more with the iPhone 6 camera by delivering the power needed for image processing. The camera leak suggests an Apple iPhone 6 release in June, but other sources point to fall as a more likely time for an iPhone 6.
