iPad Pro 2, iPad Air 3 and iPad mini 2017
Apple announced the 2017 iPad in place of the iPad Air 3 in March, but we still expect an iPad Pro 2 this year. It's not clear exactly when this will arrive, but the fall looks like a good time. The iPad mini saw small changes, but it's not really a new device.
Apple introduced the 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pro models in 2015 and 2016 and the company is currently pushing the larger model as the best laptop replacement.
Rumors indicate Apple will deliver at least three new iPads in 2017, but some sources indicate that we will see up to four models. With one on store shelves, that leaves two or three new iPads left. It makes sense that we will also see two new iPad Pro 2017 models. This will likely be an iPad Pro 2 with a 12.9-inch display and an iPad Pro 2 with a 9.7-inch display. We continue to hear that the 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 will arrive with a larger 10.5-inch or 10.9-inch display from a range of sources.
One rumor indicates that we will see an iPad Pro 2 with a 7.9-inch display. This would replace the iPad mini and would likely allow users to pair the Apple Pencil with a smaller iPad.
