We just received word from Motion Computing that they have added Asus as an original design manufacturer of Motion’s Tablet PCs. Compal will continue to manufacturer Tablet PCs for Motion as well, so this adds a lot of manufacturing support for them.
Considering the success of the LS800 and of the Asus R2H Ultra-Mobile PC, this looks to be an excellent fit. Does this pave the way for more ultra-portable’s and maybe an “official” Ultra-Mobile PC from Motion? We’ll see….

AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 21, 2006 — Motion Computing®, a leader in mobile computing and wireless communications, today announced a manufacturing agreement with ASUSTeK, Inc., a leading provider of computers, communications and consumer electronics based in Taipei, Taiwan. ASUS will become an original design manufacturer of Motion™ tablet PCs and peripherals. New Motion products built by ASUS will be released beginning in 2007.
This new agreement augments Motion’s existing relationship with Compal Electronics based in Taiwan and China. Compal will continue as a strategic partner for Motion, including manufacturing of Motion’s current award-winning product family as well as developing new Motion designs.
